The James River begins in the Appalachian Mountains and flows 348 miles to the Chesapeake Bay.  It is the longest river in Virginia and the 12th longest river in the United States that remains entirely within a single state. If you jumped in the James right here, you would likely see fisherman, families in canoes, and other recreational enthusiasts enjoying the river.
