Run or walk the HOPE Lope 5k 2021, our second annual fundraiser benefiting the horses of H.O.P.E. Acres Rescue! This one's completely virtual folks, so you can participate anywhere and at any pace you choose. Whether you walk around your neighborhood, run through the park, or jog on a treadmill, it’s up to you. If you're an astronaut, you can even run in space.
1. Complete the virtual race any time between March 6 and March 15.
2. Have fun, enjoy your swag bag, take a selfie with your HOPE Lope shirt, and share your race experience with us on social media using the hashtags #hopelope5k and #hopeacresrescue. You can also submit your race photos through the "Photos" tab at the top of this page.
3. Submit your results by 12:00 pm March 15 using the "Results" tab at the top of this page, or through your RunSignup profile. This is a fun run, so you're racing for bragging rights (and for the horses. Although if you run the fastest 5k dressed as a horse that might get you a Guiness World Record. We'd like to see that).
Registration includes a HOPE Lope 5k shirt and race bag. We’re kicking off the race March 6 with a socially distant event on the patio at Bohemian Bull on James Island. If you’re in the area, enjoy music by The Bryan Robert's Band and great food when you come by to pick up your race bag! If you're not local or just prefer to have your bag sent to your home, we can mail it to you with a shipping fee (this helps us keep our costs down and ensures that more proceeds go to the horses). When you register, please indicate if you would like your race bag shipped to you by selecting the Shipping Fee.
Race swag provided by Bold Impressions and American Promotional Products.
We have everything in hand except for race bibs. Local runners will be able to pick up their race bags tomorrow afternoon at Bohemian Bull on James Island, but the bags will not contain bibs. Please remember this is a fun run, there are no prizes, and the bibs are not technically necessary for the completion of the race. However, we know that people like to collect them and have them for photos, so we wish to provide them for you. If you are a local runner and would like us to mail your bib to you when we get them, let us know when you pick up your bag.
For those getting their swag bags in the mail, your envelopes are packed, labeled, and ready to go out via Priority Mail on Monday. Delivery for Priority Mail is 1-3 days, so you should have your race shirts next week with time to complete the race by March 15th.
UPDATE March 2: We are now out of swag bags! If you register after this point, you will still receive a HOPE Lope 5k shirt, but just the shirt — no bag or medal. Since any new runners will not get the full swag bag package, we have dropped the registration to $30 and the shipping fee to $5.
UPDATE February 24: Due to the phenomenal number of registrations for the HOPE Lope 5k this year, our swag bag inventory will soon be depleted. As of Feb. 24th, the next 25 registrants will receive the full swag package with shirts, medals, and bags! Any who register after those 25 will STILL receive HOPE Lope t-shirts, but just the shirts. We'll make it clear once those 25 are up and lower the shipping fee for just the shirts.
We thank everyone for their participation this year. We have had an incredible showing of support for our second annual Lope. We're already looking toward next year's race and hope that all of you will join us again in 2022!
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Berkeley County, SC that rescues, rehabilitates, and provides sanctuary for neglected and abused horses from across the state. We believe that all horses deserve peaceful lives free from fear and neglect. By participating, you help us feed and provide life-saving veterinary treatments to horses that are sick, starving, and in need of a good home. Thank you for joining us as we give these beautiful animals a second chance at a happy life!
