Description

The 8th Annual Sandalwood Run for Hunger will be held on Hilton Head Island Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at 8:30 am.  Our previous success has been in large part due to the awesome support we have received from our community — to help make that possible again, we invite you to participate in this special annual event as a sponsor!

The Sandalwood Community Food Pantry is delighted to share that the SERG GROUP and three of their independently owned restaurants: Holy Tequila, Charbar Co. Burgers & Sushi and Giuseppi’s Pizza & Pasta House of Hilton Head are proud to partner and be the Title sponsors for this year's Run for Hunger.

We will return to the historic Mitchellville Freedom Park as the location for our 5K,10K Run/Walk -- this is a diverse course combining roads, trails and beach.   Thanks to popular demand, we will again include a Fastest Dog Division.

Not a runner, no problem. This year we've added a walk only division. This is an untimed category with the option for a race shirt.

Medals presented to the top male and female finishers overall, as well as top 3 finishers in each of 8 age divisions. Divisions: <12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ Top 3 Dogs.

T-shirts guaranteed if registered by October 30th. Late registration and Packet pickup will be available on Friday, November 3rd at Palmetto Running Company Hilton Head from 3-5pm and race day at Freedom Park 7:15-8:00AM NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION.

ABOUT SANDALWOOD FOOD PANTRY

The Sandalwood Community Food Pantry is a non-denominational, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, helping families make ends meet by supplementing their monthly groceries in times of need. Established in 2009, the SCFP was formed when one woman decided to address the growing issue of hunger in the children at Sandalwood Terrace on Hilton Head Island.

7th Annual Run for Hunger highlights…

* WHHI Talk of the Town
https://youtu.be/-GiIQbto2Rc

* 11 States represented:  SC, CA, GA, AR, MI, MS, KY, PA, OH, NC, NY

*  A lot of positive feedback from our sponsors & participants including:
Great comments on the course, food and beverages, our special cause, raffle prizes, enthusiastic volunteers on the course,  and overall fun/special experience.

* $1,000's raised for our new pantry

We are making exciting progress on our building fund initiative and having a pantry home we can call our own — the proceeds from the Run for Hunger fund will again go directly to this initiative.  We are collaborating with our Town of HHI to secure a property that is both safe and accessible for all our neighbors in need as we continue to provide healthy food and a safe Resilient Structure in times of need.

Your participation will enable the Sandalwood Community Food Pantry to continue feeding the hungry for years to come because Hunger Hurts!

We hope you will consider being a race sponsor this year and support The Annual Sandalwood Run for Hunger!

With heartfelt thanks,

Rod and Nannette
