DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE  - UPDATED!

The US Highway 176 bridge over Crimm Creek in Pomaria is closed until the end of March for repair. That means you cannot get to Pomaria from Columbia on Highway 176. There are some alternate routes which can be used if you are coming from Columbia.

One would be to continue west on I26 and take exit 82, (highway 773). Take a right and travel to the stop sign at US Highway 176. Take a right and drive into Pomaria. Ball field parking would be on your left.

Another route would be to take exit 97 (Peak exit), go down highway 176 and take a right on Hope Station Road. Go to the stop sign and take a left. This brings you into the back side of Pomaria. Ball field parking is on the right.  These are the easiest routes. ( Although there are other routes, they require multiple turns on unmarked secondary roads, which could result in lost runners.)

There are no reroutes needed to get to Alston, although there is construction work on Highway 176 at the Peak exit which involves single lane traffic. There are no access issues coming from Newberry/Spartanburg.

Volunteers will be available to direct you to parking that morning

Important Details:
Event is RAIN or SHINE!  Dogs are welcome -- on leashes!

FAQ's

Can I get a refund?

As stated on our race registration website,  this is a non refundable event. Regardless if you get hurt, sick, get called in to work or have an emergency;  this policy still applies.  Please do not ask for exceptions.   If you are worried that you may not be able to make a race, you have a few options:
1. Wait to register. Entry fees will increase as the race date gets closer so keep that in mind.
2  Transfer your bib to another runner before our Bib Transfer deadline.

Will the race still take place if it is raining?

The race is rain or shine!

Can I defer my entry until next year?

To defer, you need to email us to request the deferral before Feb. 15, 2024.  After this date, we will not longer accept any deferral requests.

Will I get a shirt if I register after the race deadline?

We always order extra shirts but shirts are not guaranteed if you register after our shirt guarantee deadline.  When you register, our system shows what shirt sizes are available.

Can I transfer my bib to another runner?

Yes.  These transfers need to be requested by email before March 15, 2024.  We will need the name, date of birth, address, gender, email address and phone number of the person you are giving your bib to.  They will have to take the shirt size you requested.

Can I give my bib to another runner and let them run under my name?

To abide by USTAF guidelines, we do not allow runners or walkers to participate under someone else's name.  Please request a bib transfer by email  by our deadline if you want to transfer your bib.

Can I tag along with my friend who is registered for the race on the course?

Due to safety concerns, only bibbed runners and walkers are allowed on the course.

If I arrive late to the start, can I still get on the course after the race starts at 8:30am?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the race start.   Due to safety concerns, we will not allow runners or walkers to start after the race has officially begun.

Is there a time limit on the race?

Yes.  We have a three hour time limit on the event.  The Palmetto Trail is closed for this event and will reopen to the public at noon.  Our shuttle service will stop at 11:45 am.

About RJ Rockers

Palmetto Conservation Foundation and RJ Rockers Brewing Company have combined their respective passions and have brought to market the quality handcrafted Palmetto Trail Ale that will help support the Palmetto Trail.

"Our slogan is HANDCRAFTED. EVERY BEER. EVERY DROP. EVERY TIME. And we aren't kidding either. Mark makes every batch with his own hands in our facility. He knows exactly what goes into the beer, and it is quality ingredients. He cares about what he makes."

“We understand not everyone drinks beer, but we appreciate those that know good beer. We are not a big beer company, and we don't merit ourselves mainly on huge promotions and large public events (although we are involved). We merit ourselves on beer. Any establishment that recognizes that fact is an establishment we want to be in. We don't want to be disconnected. We want to be right there with the people who drink our beer. After all, without them we are nothing.
