COME RUN WITH SANTA CLAUS AND THE GRINCH!!
Event: The Elf off the Shelf 5k and 1 mile Kids Fun Run

Event starting times: 1 mile kids run starts at 8:30am and 5K starts at 9:00am
Description:
Get into the Christmas spirit and come run or walk in the Elf Off the Shelf 5K or Kids 1 Mile Fun Run at Central High School on Saturday, December 17th, 2022 in Knoxville, TN. Since this is a Christmas themed event, we encourage all runners and walkers to please come out in your Christmas apparel. Come dressed as an Elf, Reindeer, Grinch, Santa Claus or just wear jingle bells on your shoes. This is a fun time for our community to come out to have a blast and embrace the Christmas spirit. We will have have Christmas music, hot chocolate, coffee, and donuts. Even SANTA CLAUS and THE GRINCH will be there to cheer you on.
Registration:
Online registration is open now and closes on December 17th at 8:30am.
In person Registration: You can also register on Friday December 16th from 5:00pm - 7:00pm and Saturday December 17th 7:00am - 8:30am in the school cafeteria.
Packet Pick up:
You may pick up your tee shirt and goodie bag at Central High School’s cafeteria on Friday December 16th from 5:00p - 7:00p and on Saturday December 17th from 7:00am - 8:30am in the cafeteria.
Tee Shirt policy:
Short-sleeved, unisex shirts. Please note our tee shirt policy: Anyone registering after Thursday December 8th will receive shirts while supplies last. Once inventory runs out there will be no more shirts and No re-orders.
Course Description:
Kids 1 mile run
will start in the bus loop (in the school parking lot) go behind the school, head down to the track/football field, run across the 50 yard line, and head back up to the school to finish in the bus loop.
The 5k course
Runners will start in the parking lot (bus loop area), go around the parking lot, run behind the school, down to the football/track area, run across the 50 yard line, exit the track area, run down Marion, turn left on sidewalk by fountain city library, turn left up Rosebay (hill going up to Central), and complete a 2nd lap. Finish line is in the bus loop where you started.
5k course will close at 10:15am.
Water stations
There will be two water stations. One at the football field and one near the bus loop.
Awards:
For the 1 mile kids run, participants will receive a Elf ribbon from Santa Claus and the Grinch. Top 4 boys and top 4 girls will receive Elf medallions.
For the 5k event, elf medallions will be handed out to the top 4 male and top 4 female winners. Awards will be handed out to top 2 male and top 2 female finishers overall.
Headphones - Any headphone devices are discouraged due to the safety hazard(s) to other runners & runners themselves but allowed as courses only crossing public roads and not being run on them.
Event Cancellation / Modification Policy
If Natural Disaster or Community Disaster occurs, our action steps are as follows:
1. Central High School is in concert with local officials and will make decisions based on safety first.
2. Courses and/or race segments will be altered as agreed to between Central High School and local officials.
3. Financial: It is not financially feasible for Central High School to accept the risk of a disaster for everyone. Each registered participant needs to accept the risk of his or her entry fee. There will be NO REFUNDS or free entries to future races. The money you paid is spent developing the subject event.
4. Central High School does not save any money if one of our events has to be canceled for reasons beyond our control. All supplies and services needed for the events are purchased and/or arranged in advance. All event supplies and services associated with that event must be paid for, regardless of the outcome.
