The Rebel Run 10K, 5K, and 1 Mile Run/Walk is in its 9th year. The event will look different this year due to COVID 19 and for the safety of our participants, staff, volunteers, and spectators. The event will be a combination in person and virtual event. The 10K and 5K events are planned for in person with a limited number of registrants for each event. At this time, the cap is 250 per event on a first come, first serve basis. Racers will register for a 15 minute time slot to start the race. The 10K rolling start will begin at 6:30 AM and end at 7:30 AM. The 5K rolling start begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 9:00 AM. Anyone may register to run the 10K, 5K, and 1 mile as a virtual race through noon on August 22. The 1 Mile Run/Walk will only be a virtual event due to the safety of children and families. Shirts guaranteed to all registrants through August 12 at noon. A second shirt order will be made on August 24. Pick-up times will be established and communicated to participants.
The Rebel Run is a fundraising event for the Maryville City Schools Foundation which provides the ongoing enrichment of educational programs for all students in Maryville City Schools. COURSE DESCRIPTION: The 10K and 5K courses are USATF certified. Both the 10K and 5K are single loop courses with some rolling hills and fast flats, traveling on area roads, greenway, and sidewalks.
For Virtual Participants: We will be doing one give-away per day for virtual participants from August 15 -22. Just post your run on social media along with a picture of anything related to your run including the location, results on your Garmin, Strava, etc. Tag your post with Maryville City Schools Foundation and Be Aware Blount and include the hashtag #MCSFRebelRun. Don’t have social media? No problem, just email a picture from your run to mcsf@maryville-schools.org. MCSF will select a random winner each day for a gift card.
Note: Most roads are not closed, but we will have course monitors to try and halt traffic for runners. Runners should be aware that vehicles COULD be on the course. RUNNERS ONLY ALLOWED ON THE 10K COURSE.
REGISTRATION: Online registration is available through noon Friday, August 21 for all in person events. Virtual registrations are accepted through Noon on Saturday, August 22. Guaranteed shirt cut-off is August 12 at noon! Shirts and bibs must be picked up in advance of the race. NO EVENT DAY REGISTRATION or BIB PICK UP.
RACE PACKET PICK-UP: Early packet pick-up will be held on Wednesday, August 19,Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21 at CrossFit Pistol Creek in Maryville. CFPC is located beneath The Daily Times building. PLEASE WEAR A MASK WHEN PICKING UP YOUR SHIRT AND BIB FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL.

T-SHIRTS: High quality t-shirts guaranteed for all who register by NOON on August 12, 2020. Later registrants will receive a shirt while supplies last. An additional order after the event will be placed on August 24.. ALL EVENT REGISTRANTS INCLUDING VIRTUAL AND OPTIONAL SHIRT ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP AT CROSSFIT PISTOL CREEK on the dates and times above. Shirts will not be delivered to the schools for distribution this year.
CASH PRIZES: For 10K and 5K races, cash prizes will be awarded to the overall top three male and female finishers, and overall top male and female Masters finishers. A check will be mailed to the prize winners at the address used for registration.
5K and 10K Age groups: <8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40+ (Masters)
TIMING: This event is timed electronically with a timing chip attached to your race bib. Your race number/chip is programmed to coincide with your individual race number. During the event, you will cross mats that will record your time from your disposable race bib. Please do not BEND, TEAR OR ALTER your race number. Runners must wear the bibs on the FRONT of their person, and must wear the bib number associated with their name.
RESULTS: Timing services are provided by Knoxville Track Club. Results will be available at www.ktc.org and www.RunSignUp.com.

SAFETY AND COURSE ETIQUETTE: Aid and water stations will be not be provided along the course or at the finish line this year. Please bring your own water! Because you will be running on area roads and sidewalks, the use of headphones and baby strollers are discouraged and participants do so at their own risk. Bicycles, roller blades, and pets are prohibited. Note: because this is an open course, there may be traffic on the roads. Parents of young children should run with their kids. ONLY RUNNERS ARE ALLOWED ON THE 10K COURSE.
