Who is Alaina Dixon?
At the finish line of the 2011 Chevron Houston Marathon, Alaina collapsed from sudden cardiac arrest due to an undiagnosed congenital heart defect after running the nearly 26.2 miles. Within seconds the race medical staff had begun CPR and transported her to the medical tent where she was successfully defibrillated. With their quick response and access to the right equipment, the highly trained medical team was able to save her life. Because of these people, Alaina not only survived but has made a full recovery and continues to run.
Alaina is a current member of the Runner's High Club and training for the 2016 Chevron Houston Marathon.
