Your 2026 Starts Here — The Lone Star Stampede

Start your year with purpose, pride, and the power of community. The Lone Star Stampede is a Houston tradition that unites runners, walkers, University of Texas alumni, and supporters for a day of fitness, fun, and giving back.

Hosted by the Texas Exes Houston Chapter, this annual event features a 10K, 5K, and Kids 1K Fun Run, welcoming participants of all ages and fitness levels.

More than just a race, the Lone Star Stampede is about making an impact—proceeds fund scholarships for local students pursuing their dreams of higher education. As a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Texas Exes Houston Chapter is committed to fostering the next generation of Longhorn leaders while strengthening the bonds of our Houston community.

• Location: Brazos River Park
• Address: 18427 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77479
• Distances: 10K, 5K, Kids 1K Fun Run, and Virtual Options

Packet Pickup (Bring your ID)

• Thursday, January 29: 4 – 7 PM (Sponsor Location TBD)
• Friday, January 30: 5 – 8 PM (Sponsor Location TBD)
• Race-Day Pickup: 8 – 8:45 AM

Bonus: Pick up early to earn an extra raffle ticket!

Course & Timing

• 10K: Two-loop course within Brazos River Park
• 5K: One-loop course
• Kids 1K: Short out-and-back route
• Chip-timed 5K & 10K
• Strollers: Allowed in the 5K walk only
• No pets permitted on the course

Parking

Ample parking available at Brazos River Park (18427 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77479). Follow event signage on race day.

Inclement Weather Policy

The event will be held rain or shine. If weather conditions are unsafe, the event will be canceled and all fees will be donated to the Texas Exes Houston Chapter Scholarship Fund. No refunds or transfers.
