The Prettiest Race in Texas Half Marathon, benefitting Chosen Care, is set in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and runs along the scenic Guadalupe River on River Road passing beautiful campsites, canyons and cliffs offering spectacular river views that make this course deserving of the name, The Prettiest Race in Texas.
The Half Marathon starts at the Summit Campsite and is a point to point run with gently rolling hills, and the 5K is a fast yet challenging loop course. The 5k starts at Rockin R River Rides. Both events finish at Rockin R in New Braunfels, right across the river from historic Gruene, Texas and centrally located between Austin, San Antonio and New Braunfels . A great place to spend the afternoon after the finish.
2020 will be the 11th Annual running of the Prettiest Race in Texas and continues to benefit Chosen Care to help children heal from trauma by strengthening their families.
Half Marathon start time is 7:30am. Please note the start is a 30 minute drive from Rockin R in New Braunfels.
Half Marathoners will be shuttled from Rockin' R in Gruene to the start line at The Summit (a 30 minute ride). The bused runners will begin boarding buses at 6:00am with the last bus leaving at 6:45am. Buses will leave for the start as they are filled.
Runners can choose to make their own transportation arrangements for drop off at the Rio Guadalupe Resort (14130 River Rd, New Braunfels, TX 78132). The Rio Guadalupe dropped-off runners will take a short 1-mile shuttle ride to The Summit. THERE IS NO DROP OFF AT THE SUMMIT and NO PARKING at either The Summit or Rio Guadalupe.
Runners must be at least 12 years old to run the half marathon.
Runners will receive a personalized race bib if registered by the bib order date, the official 2020 Prettiest Race in Texas Half Marathon technical shirt, and the official 2020 Prettiest Race in Texas Half Marathon finisher medal as well as ice cold beer at the finish.
Please note due to insurance restrictions, no dogs are allowed on the course.
For an additional $45, half marathon and 5K runners will enjoy a private, relaxed atmosphere with food and beverage, post-race massage and an exclusive VIP giveaway. What do I get with my registration?
Half Marathon runners will receive a personalized race bib, the official 2020 Chosen Half Marathon technical shirt, and the official 2020 Chosen Half Marathon finisher medal as well as tacos and beer at the finish. 5K runners will receive a personalized race bib and the official 2020 Chosen 5K t-shirt as well as tacos and beer at the finish.
Kids Fun Run registrants will receive an official 2019 Chosen Kids Fun Run T-shirt.
Are there age restrictions?
Half Marathon runners must be ages 12 & up. All minors must have parental consent.
5K runners must be ages 5 & up. Children between the ages of 5 and 11 must run with an adult. All minors must have parental consent.
Kids Fun Run participants must be between 2 –11 years old. Kids will check-in at the Kids Fun Run registration tent the morning of the race between 9:00 and 9:45.
Is there race day registration?
No race day registration will be available.
Can I register in person at Packet Pickup?
Yes, you can register in person at any of the Packet Pickup locations. The price for the Half Marathon will be $125 and the price for the 5K will be $50.
Can I send in my registration instead of registering online?
No, at this time we cannot accept mail-in registrations.
What does it mean to run virtually?
Virtual Runners will run a half marathon (13.1 miles) anywhere in the world anytime between November 1 and November 23, 2019. After you email a photo of your results to firstname.lastname@example.org (a photo of your GPS watch/FitBit/app readout) you will receive a personalized race bib, the official 2020 Chosen Half Marathon finisher medal and the official 2020 Chosen Half Marathon technical shirt. When logging miles, they must be captured at one time (consecutively) as if you were running/walking the event on race day. Please note a $25 shipping and handling fee will be added at checkout.
What is the transfer / refund policy?
Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable due to administrative constraints and liability. Any inquiry regarding this policy will be directed back to this page. Transfers between one participant to another are prohibited.
Can I change my registration to a different subevent?
Yes. Switching to a longer distance or to a virtual runner is available for a fee. Refunds will not be issued for switching to a shorter distance.
Where do I pick up my race packet?

THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY PACKET PICKUP FOR HALF MARATHON RUNNERS.
Kids Fun Run Packet Pickup:There is no packet for Kids Fun Run. Kids will check in at the Kids Fun Run registration tent the morning of the race between 9:00 and 9:45.
Can I pick up someone else’s packet at Packet Pickup?
YES, you may pick up someone else’s packet but you must have a copy of their confirmation receipt. No exceptions.
How do I find out about race changes due to inclement weather, disaster, etc.?
This website and other media outlets will have information regarding road closures and other changing conditions. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for up to date information. We are a rain or shine race unless officials call our event due to lightning.
Where do the events start and finish?

Is there Bag Check offered?
Yes, there will be a bag drop at both The Summit (Half Marathon) and at Rockin R (5K).
At packet pick up, runners will receive a clear bag that will serve as your gear bag on race day. ONLY clear bags with your bib number on them will be accepted at bag drop.
Before you enter your assigned start line location, drop-off your pre-race/post-race clothing and belongings at the Bag Check. While you run, your gear will be held at Bag Check. After the race, reclaim your checked bag at the Finish Line Bag Check tent.
Please note: DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag. Split Second Productions is not responsible for any lost items. Gear bags must be claimed before close of the event on race day.
Items left along the race route will not be available at bag check and will be collected and donated.
Can I run with a baby jogger?
No baby joggers will be allowed on the half marathon course. The Half Marathon course is an open road course with winding roads.
Can I bring my dog?
No, due to insurance coverage, dogs are not allowed on the course.
Will there be race photos available?
Professional photographers will be out on the course & at the finish line to capture your race-day moments.
When will results & photos be posted?
Results will be posted to our website on race day.
A link to photos will be posted to our website within 48 – 72 hours.
