Description

Why Participate? What's Our Goal?

Our goal for “Devour With Power 5K” is to raise awareness on the impact of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and elder abuse in the community as well as raise much needed funds for the victims and their families. It is our first annual 5K Run/Walk and it is in support of the local non-profit shelter Bay Area Turning Point (BATP). Once the 5K Run/Walk infrastructure costs are covered all the remaining proceeds will be donated to Bay Area Turning Point. This 5K Run/Walk is presented and organized by Tiger's Den Martial Arts and Fitness, under the leadership of Mostafa Saber.

The route of the race is very scenic, it consists mainly of the beautiful Seabrook Trails. It is by far one of the most popular trail system in the Greater Houston Area. Walkers and runners enjoy the beautiful natural landscape and will see a variety of wildlife including birds and butterflies. Average temperatures range around 76 degrees in Seabrook.

The 5k Run/Walk will award for top finishers in different categories and medals for all participants. The race starts at 7 am, and the course includes paved roads, grass fields, and sandy trails . There will be a water station at the half way point.

The Collaboration to End Violence:

Together Tiger's Den and Bay Area Turning Point through their many different programs help individuals affected by violence in their efforts to move their lives forward. Some of the programs Tiger's Den offers to help victims include self-defense classes and seminars, practical martial arts, bully prevention workshops, classes to build back up the self-esteem and self-confidence. Tiger's Den strives to empower our community through each individual and devour adversity through discipline and positivity. We also impact people's lives by teaching life skills through the Martial Arts and by helping each individual grow both physically and mentally. On the other end of the spectrum, BATP provides shelter, counseling and advocacy to build lives free from the effects of violence. BATP seeks social change to end domestic and sexual violence through community awareness and education. Services are confidential and available to everyone.
