Description
Join us for our annual Fun Run/Walk in recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. Participants will tackle either a one-mile or a 5k track. The Fun Run will begin at Railyard Park in Waxahachie. Both courses will be on the Waxahachie Bike/Walk Trail. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run activities will begin at 9:30 a.m. This is a free race for the community to raise awareness for child abuse and our organization. Donations are accepted and appreciated. All proceeds go directly to children's needs in Ellis County.
The Rainbow Room provides for the immediate and urgent needs of these children and supports the Child Protective Services caseworkers who help them. When a caseworker has to remove a child from the home due to abuse or neglect, that child often comes into care with just the clothes on his back. The Rainbow Room is an actual room, filled with emergency supplies such as diapers, formula, hygiene items, and school supplies, which the caseworker can access 24 / 7, to get the items they need for their kids. Other items, such as clothes, car seats, and beds, are purchased as necessary. Ultimately, it is the Rainbow Room’s mission to keep these children safe and to help them reach their full potential.
