Heroes and Hope 5k

Location & Date Memorial Park, Sugar Land, TX on Saturday May 24th @7:00 A.M.

About This Event WELCOME! Your hosts for the event is world famous DJ and ultra marathoner, Kevin Kline. We are holding this wonderful 5k event on Saturday, May 24th at Sugar Land’s Memorial Park. We have modified the course based on comments from  local runners and elite racers. Come run, walk or just support while you enjoy from the music and festivities. Race starts at 7:00 a.m. sharp!

The course is a USATF certified 5k course and the race has a 1 hr time limit (48 minute/mile pace).    Water& sports drink will be provided along the course.     Finisher medals. Prizes: we have a generous array of prizes and gifts. Prizes will be given to the top male and female times and Masters times, as well as individual age group prizes. One of our fine sponsors, Finish Line Sports, is providing special prizes at the race end to some lucky participants.   Age requirement, must be 10 years old or older on race day to participate. m    Early registration is ONLY $25.  (before april 15th). $30 to May 17th. After $35.

Charity Beneficiary: Your participation and entry fees make life better for so many. Money raised from this fun run event will benefit Snowdrop Foundation , a caring group who hosts events across the Houston area to raise funds for the Texas Children's Cancer Center. http://www.snowdropfoundation.org

Walking and Running for Race: The front line is reserved for elite runners. Most are preselected based on having a 6:00 per mile or faster pace and provide a time from a sanctioned event in the past 12 months. Slower runners and walkers are asked to stay to the right and to run/walk no more than 2 abreast as this ensures room for those passing to do so without having to do so from a lane with cars. Safety for all is the primary concern.  Running/walking 3 or more abreast often causes passing runners to run in the traffic lane. This is not safe for anyone! Please be aware and accomodate.

Elite Distance Runners: Please contact the Race Director at jammdirector@yahoo.com if you are have a recent, documented 16-minute or better 5k (male) or  a 17-minute or better 5k (female) as you have earned a comp entry.

Entry Fees: Only $25. (before March 15th). After $35. Race Day $40 Field Limit: 600 entrants. Thanks for your support!!!

Team Tents Email jammdirector@yahoo.com to reserve a 12' by 12' space for your team tent near the finish line. All tents must be can begin set up at 6:00 am. See Jeff Howard or Sam Hulse of Texas Running Company.

Bandits: NO bandits allowed on the racecourse. We do allow for pacers who are courting a physically or mentally challenged runner. Please check-in with the Race Director so that we can accomodate your generous support of these individuals. Banditing is strictly enforced by SLPD. $500 fine. Sorry, no refunds, no deferrals, no transfer of entry. Online registration closes Friday May 23, 2014 at 5pm. Last minute registration can be done during Bib pick-up or at the race up to 15 minutes before the start. Please register on-line as you save $5 AND bib pick-up is much quicker than full registration & payment. Help us to start on time. Thanks!

Police & Medical coverage: EMT Firemen and MHSL Medical Support. EMT Firemen and MHSL Medical are working the race on the course and at the finish line to insure your medical safety. (Sag vehicles are available on the course.) SLPD will be in place from 5:30am-8:30 am only.

Volunteers We could not provide a fine event without the help of these wonderful people!!!  We have many wonderful volunteers making this race a success.  PLEASE CALL US at 832-453-1822 to be put on our volunteer list, please. Volunteer Check-in table is located in the starting area and near the starting line.

Packet Pickup/Late Registration Late registration and packet pick-up will be available Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday (May 21-22) 1-7p.m. @ Texas Running Company 15890 Southwest Fwy. #600, Sugar Land, TX 77478 (281) 240-2215.  Friday May 23rd from 1-6 p.m. at Finish Line Sports @ 13895 Southwest Fwy Sugar Land, TX 77478 (281) 242-7700.  

Restrictions: NO dogs, NO bandits. Must be 10 years old or older and in good health to participate. Field Limit of 600 entrants this year. If you want to run with a stroller, we can accomodate. If you are an elite, we will place you where you can get out fast and not compromise those in faster as well as putting you slightly ahead of those you would have to navigate around. For most with strollers, please position at ahead of the walkers if running and with if walking. THANKS.

Race Photographer Steven David and his team are the official H&H race photographers. Photos of all racers will be available on-line and for purchase. Restrooms and portacans Restrooms and portacans are available before, during, and after Heroes & Hope 5k. There are nice men and women's indoor restrooms available nearby.

Refunds & Transfers: Sorry, there are NO refunds, NO deferrals, and NO transfer of entry.
