Entry Fee: (Including Post-Race Picnic)

• Individuals: $30 by May 31, $35 by June 22, $40 by June 29

• Families of three or more entering together: $5 discount for each person

• Just the picnic: $10 by June 29

Directions:  

• From Route 50, turn north to the end of Manchester Street. Turn right onto free parking.  If parking is full, park at Bluemont Park North Shelter or Ashlawn School 

Race-day:    

• On-site registration is open from 7:00 AM to 9:15 AM – Race-day registration is possible.

Course:       

• Paved Park trails, one hill, no road crossings

• OK for walkers and wheelchairs.

Race size:     

• About 300 in each race. You may enter one, two, or all three races for one entry fee (just one T-shirt)

Awards:         

• In Elite 5K at 8:00 AM, medals for top 3 overall and in 10-year age groups M/F - Official times recorded and published online instantly on Webscorer 

• Open 5K at 8:45 AM and Family 3K at 9:30 AM, clock times only  

Post-race:     

• Picnic in the picnic shelter about 100 meters from the start / finish next to the restrooms.

This race is a fundraiser for Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC)

The Ethiopian Community Development Council, Inc. (ECDC), based in Arlington, Va., is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit, community-based organization (CBO) established in 1983 to respond to the needs of a growing Ethiopian community in the U.S. ECDC quickly became a multi-cultural, multi-service provider with local, national, and international reach. For 41 years, ECDC has been helping refugees and immigrants re-establish their lives as productive, self-sufficient members of their new communities.

One of 10 Resettlement Agencies authorized by the U.S. Department of State to resettle refugees, ECDC has to date resettled 80,000 newcomers through its 25 affiliates and branch offices in 18 states across the U.S. ECDC has 18 affiliate organizations, 7 branch offices, and 2 community partners.

In addition to its proud history of serving and advocating for refugees and vulnerable populations within the U.S., ECDC remains committed to providing humanitarian aid and educational services overseas, particularly in Ethiopia and Sudan.

Acknowledging the pressing demand to address the adversities encountered by children and youths impacted by the continuing crisis in Ethiopia, ECDC is orchestrating the "ECDC 5K Run & Walk for Refugees." This initiative endeavors to furnish vital assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ethiopia, with a specific emphasis on securing educational access and avenues for the children and youth affected by the turmoil. Through this initiative, ECDC aims to mobilize support and resources to aid those in distress and reignite hope for a promising future among the younger populace. Waiver of liability:  I know running a race is a potentially hazardous activity.  I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained.  I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relevant to my ability to safely complete this event.  I assume all risks associated with running in this event, including, but not limited to CONTRACTION OF ILLNESS INCLUDING COVID-19, falls, contact with other participants, effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, and conditions of the course, all such risks being known and appreciated by me.  Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release all sponsors, including the District of Columbia, Arlington County Virginia, their elected and appointed officials and employees, Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, ECDC International, RRCA, and USATF, their officers, directors, agents, and employees, and all officials of this event from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver.  I understand this event is conducted under the regulations of the National Park Service.  I agree to release my name and photo for publicity purposes.  I agree that my name and address may be provided to the sponsors of this event.  I agree my entry fee is non-refundable.  Parents or guardians must sign for children under 18.
