Description

It time to get cold! The 2025 the Schock & Shivers 5k and Cold Water Challenge is a Team Chesapeake Law Enforcement United event to fundraise for the Road to Hope. Join us at the Oak Grove Lake Park on January 25, 2025, where we will honor Chesapeake officers Tim Schock and Jarrod Shivers, who were killed in the line of duty. This race will warm up your body while running, and give you a chance to cool off at the end - by taking the Cold Water Challenge in the Oak Grove Lake Park. Chesapeake Police and Fire divers will be there for your safety through out event!

THE COURSE

Oak Grove Lake Park is a 1.5 mile loop around on a trail-style path. The race will start at the Tim Schock Memorial, placed in honor of the officer who died in a diving accident in the Oak Grove Lake.

The event will take place shine or rain! In the event of wintry weather, a decision will be made and all racers will be notified as to future steps.

FAQ

What is the Road to Hope?

An annual bicycle ride from varying points in the USA, ours being Chesapeake! We ride bicycles up to Washington, D.C. to honor the fallen and remember their survivors. Sworn LEOs and survivors of fallen officers take the journey to heal, make friends, and form lifelong bonds

Can I come and watch?

Absolutely! The park is open to all, and we hope to have our friends at the Chesapeake Police Department present with some equipment to check out!

Do I have to do the Cold Water Challenge?

Definitely not! While we certainly hope you will join our divers in the water, they won’t have their feelings hurt if you don’t.

What should I bring?

Water, sports drink, or whatever gets you hydrated. A towel, if you plan to get in the water. Headphones if you like to run that way.
