Brrr...it's getting cold outside...so it's time for a new challenge to keep us all active and getting OUTSIDE!!! The challenge is simple...KEEP ON RUNNING and run OUTSIDE as much as possible...a total of 25, 50, 100, or 150 miles during the month of January. This challenge is NOT meant to be accomplished in a single run (although you could), but rather in as many runs as you need. If you log 31 outside activities during the challenge, you'll receive a special prize!! Running, walking, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing all count.
Why the challenge?
EX2 Adventures doesn't normally have races between December and February, but this year it is even more important to keep active and be OUTSIDE. So we created the Backyard Brrr...hopefully an obvious play off our popular Backyard Burn running series...as an incentive to keep us all moving.
Charity partnership
During registration, you will have an opportunity to support a local non-profit Homestretch. The goal of the charity partnership is to first and foremost to raise awareness of the services Homestretch provides to families in our area. In addition, we hope to raise funds that will directly support their efforts. Please consider making a donation when you register. In 2020, EX2 events have raised over $12,000 for Homestretch!

Step 1: Pick your distance and sign up!
Step 2: Invite your friends and family to join the challenge as well.
Step 3: Run (or walk or hike) and log your distance in RunSignUp.
From January 1st to 31st, your goal is to run your selected distance (25, 50, 100, or 150 miles) over as many runs as needed. After each run, submit your distance in RunSignUp. Don't worry...it's easy and instructions are below. You can also (optionally) add in the time and elevation gain of each activity as well as comments. The more data you add, the more information you have at the end of the challenge!
Note: If you run/walk outside, then in the comment section write "outside." Anyone that has 31 outside activities during the challenge will receive a special prize!! Please see the FAQs for more information.
Join the EX2 Facebook group to share your progress and support other participants! You can also share pictures from your runs using #backyardbrrr.
Weekly emails from the race director will include cold weather gear suggestions and mini-challenges will keep you engaged and motivated!!
Invite your friends and family to participate in the challenge and create a team. Creating a team makes it easier to keep track of how everyone is doing in running their miles! Please note that all team members are required to register and run the full distance of their challenge (25, 50, 100, 150 miles).
TEAM CHALLENGE BONUS...Any team that reaches 1,000 miles during the challenge will receive a special prize!!

Note: If you had multiple runs in a day, you can enter each new run by clicking "Add Another Activity" button or you can aggregate them together for the day. Either works fine. Don't forget to hit submit results when you are done!
