The Virginia Memorial Day 12k & 5k Run, Walk or Roll race is a non-profit event hosted by The Race Team RVA Running Club, a 501(3) (c) non-profit organization devoted to supporting health and fitness in our community and Sponsored by the YMCA of Greater Richmond, a 501(3) (c) organization.   Our race is designed to raise awareness and funding to support causes that we believe make our communities a better place to live.

The Virginia Memorial Day 12k & 5k race has designated the Team RWB (Richmond Branch) as the primary charity that will benefit from this race. A portion of the race proceeds will be donated directly to the Team RWB (Richmond Branch) and you can donate directly to this cause and learn more about their mission by visiting www.teamrwb.org.

Come and celebrate our freedom with a special Memorial Day race on May 29, 2017 in the scenic West Creek Business Park in Richmond, Va. Great giveaways with an unforgettable opening ceremony where we will recognize and honor our current active military and military veterans for their service and remember those that gave their lives for our country. For those we have lost, this race is dedicated to their memory.

Two exciting races to choose from: 12k and 5k race all beginning at 8:00 am at the Strikers' field in the West Creek Business Park on Memorial Day, May 29, 2017. Come join the fun. Space limited!

Each participant will receive a race shirt. Please arrive early on Monday, May 29, as you pick up your race packet to ensure you get a shirt your size. Limited number of each size (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL), so do not delay. The Virginia Memorial Day race is determined to go first-class. Every participant is treated with VIP service.

Course Information
The 12k (7.45645 miles) and the 5k (3.1 miles) Virginia Memorial Day Races takes participants from the Striker’s West Creek field through West Creek Business Park, finishing at the starting point. This is an out and back race course. Race participants and spectators will enjoy the beautiful scenic views along the West Creek Parkway where runners/walkers/wheeled racers will have full access to the four-lanes, median-divided roads that intertwine throughout the park. West Creek has become an integral part of the Richmond landscape and home to some of the region’s largest businesses including Capital One, CarMax, Virginia Farm Bureau, Hospital Corporation of America, Performance Food Group, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. The race course winds through the most scenic areas of the park, inhabited by wildlife, you will be challenged by some of the rolling hills inside the park, enjoy the patriotic themes along the race course, and of course, take in the gorgeous views as you pass two of large lakes that serve as a backdrop to this race.

Join our YMCA Training Team - Program starts April 8, 2017

Looking to make new friends, stay fit, and get ready for the summer, this is the team to join. This is a program for all levels of runners and walkers. With help from motivational coaches and teammates, we will help train and motivate you to accomplish 7.46 miles (12k) – together we can achieve anything!

Training Starts April 8 at one of the 4 YMCA locations throughout Richmond:
  - Atlee Station Family YMCA, 8017 Rutland Center Boulevard, Mechanicsville, Va.
  - Downtown YMCA, 2 West Franklin Street, Richmond, Va.
  - Shady Grove Family YMCA, 11255 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen, Va.
  - Swift Creek Family YMCA, 15800 Hampton Park Drive, Chesterfield, Va.
The teams will meet each Saturday at 7:30am (Swift Creek meets at 8:15am) at each location listed above.
Sponsored by the YMCA of Greater Richmond
You do not need to be a member of the YMCA to participate in this 7 week program. The YMCA 12k Training Team may be just what you need to help you get to the finish line for the Virginia Memorial Day 12k and 5k races.   The teams are lead by experience running coaches, some of the best in Richmond, plus you will have an opportunity to participate in our Running Economy clinic and take advantage of our speed and core workouts too!

By registering for the training team, you will receive:

- Entry into the Virginia Memorial Day 12k or 5k race,
- Technical Training Team T-Shirt,
- 7 week Training schedule,
- Coach lead Saturday running groups, complete with routes and hydration (not to mention a lot of fun!)
- Group and other organized mid-week runs/activities (optional)
- Running Economy lecture (learn from some of the best in Richmond)
