Description
The Poverty Walk Challenge 4 Africa is a virtual poverty simulation, personal journey, family fitness event, an educational exercise, and fundraising event in which K12 students and their families, college students, and any adults will assemble a team that consists of 2-5 families, 2-10 college students or adults. Each team will:
1. Collectively walk, run, or bike at least 10 miles in 5 days, from Monday, March 28- Friday, April 1st, 2022. You may walk, run, or bike in your neighborhood, local gym, at home, etc. and submit your miles from March 28-April 1st, 2022 by clicking on the tab "results". You may have to click on "more" to see "results".
2. Raise money online by clicking on the tab “become a fundraiser” to start a team fundraising page. Participants can start fundraising when registration starts on March 1st, 2022. Here is the fundraising goal for each level of participation:
1. Family Fitness: each family (i.e K12 students, their parents, and relatives) is encouraged to raise $100.
2. Intermediate: Each college student or adult is encouraged to raise $25.
3. Advanced: Each college student or adult is encouraged to raise $50.
K12 students and their families are encouraged to walk, bike, or run together each day from Monday, March 28-Friday, April 1st, 2022. K12 students will accumulate additional miles by keeping track of the laps they will walk around the basketball court and football field during PE classes and the games they play during recess. All physical activities during recess and PE count towards the Family miles.
