The Buff Betty is back this September and we are taking the race back to one of it’s favorite locations, Shenandoah River State Park in Virginia. We are excited to offer two new awesome courses this year for all level of racers, from beginners giving the sport a try, to seasoned racers looking for a challenging day in the woods! The original all women’s adventure race in the country, this is a race for women designed by women, and while it won’t be easy (it shouldn’t be, it is adventure racing!) our goal with the race is to continue introducing the sport to women with fun, challenging, safe and creative courses that inspire you to keep adventuring and challenging yourself!
Located just a few miles outside of Front Royal VA, Shenandoah River State Park is one of the most popular and scenic parks in the VA state park system. With miles of amazing trails all of them very bike friendly, beautiful woods to explore and 5 miles of river shoreline, there is a reason this park is so popular for adventure and adventure racing. In addition to the meandering river, the park offers scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the East.
Pick your adventure, get your friends together and get ready for an awesome day of adventuring! Over the course of either a 5-6 hour beginner friendly race, or a 10-12 hour longer, harder, much more advanced course, especially with regards to navigation, paddling and foot travel, soloist’s, or teams of 2 and 3 will hike, bike, paddle and navigate their way through a course exploring this amazing state park, the beautiful South Fork of the Shenandoah River and all it has to offer.
