JMU Global Medical Brigades 3rd Annual Shamrock 5k

James Madison University Global Medical Brigades 3rd Annual Shamrock 5k is a 5k with a deeper purpose. Global Medical Brigades is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that connects people in developing nations to healthcare through the establishment of clinics, facilities, and resources. Here at James Madison University, a chapter of this organization was created two years ago by Elizabeth Manning and Kayci Carrier, now our former President and current Vice President. Two years ago, with the help of the fundraising team and their efforts to start the tradition of a 5k fundraiser for the organization, they were able to send over 20 volunteers on a week-long brigade to Honduras to volunteer and serve in the community through medical care. Last year the success of our 5k allowed our organization to grow to over 40 volunteers who completed a brigade in Belize last summer. To achieve this year's brigade in Guatemala, each volunteer must fundraise over $2000 and contribute towards the supplies required for the community of Guatemala. To do so, our 3rd Annual 5k serves as a way for our volunteers to be able to achieve their goals, as 100% of the proceeds will be donated towards them and their dedicated journey to medically serve Guatemala! 

This year the JMU Global Medical Brigades 3rd Annual Shamrock 5k is being hosted at Brix & Columns Vineyard in McGaheysville, VA (just 20 short minutes from JMU's campus). Participants will be able to run/walk the 5k through the vines and enjoy a glass of wine at a discounted price of $6, instead of $9, if they are of age after the 5k concludes.
