Color Run 5K

We are James River High School Students, Jordan Whirley, Ava Howe, and Madalynn Donovan hosting the Color Run 5K. Create an immersive experience where people can have a pleasant time running with family and friends while learning about and supporting a good cause. Being a 5K with a fun color twist. While having an exciting event is important to us, we believe that it’s just as important to raise awareness for childhood cancer; as it is a cause that has recently lost funding for research. The Cure Search For Children's Cancer Organization states “Just before the new year, the 2025 federal budget passed, surprising the pediatric cancer community by cutting provisions designed to support pediatric cancer research and accessibility.” By working alongside the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, we hope that we can teach our participants about the struggle of childhood cancer while also raising money for the foundation to benefit even more families of kids with cancer. ASK is an incredibly important foundation that raises money for families in Richmond who have a child with cancer. 

Our group has passion for this project as we not only understand the detrimental effects that childhood cancer can have on patients and families; but, have seen it in our own community through its effects on close friends and family members. We as a group are putting our passion into this project understanding this is a representation of who we are and what we can give to our community.
