Presented by Peninsula Track Club & York High School Cross Country / Track & Field
Monday, January 1, 2026 – Newport News Park

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Start 2026 on the right foot with the Peninsula Track Club and York High School Cross Country & Track & Field at the New Year’s Day 5K!

This annual event welcomes runners, walkers, and strollers to enjoy a fast, nearly flat course through the scenic trails of Newport News Park — one of the largest municipal parks in the country. Course judges will be on-site to verify the walker division.

All proceeds benefit York High School Cross Country and Track & Field, helping fund equipment, uniforms, and meet expenses.

Date: Thursday, January 1, 2026
Location: Newport News Park – Picnic Shelters 19 & 20 (across from the Ranger Station)

Schedule:

9:00–9:50 AM: Bib pick-up & Race Day Registration
10:00 AM: Race Start (on Constitution Way in front of the Ranger Station, heading toward Jefferson Ave.)
~11:00 AM: Awards Ceremony

Overall Awards: Top 3 Male & Female finishers
Age Group Awards: Top 3 Male & Female in each group:
19 & Under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70–79, and 80+
Walker Division: Top 3 Male & Female Walkers
 
👕 T-Shirt Information
Register by December 5 to guarantee your race shirt.
After this date, shirts will be limited and not guaranteed.

 
💻 Registration
Online Registration Closes: Noon on December 30, 2025
Race Day Registration: Opens at 9:00 AM at the bib pick-up area

Cost: $50 (cash) or $50 via RunSignUp (processing fee applies)
