The History of Belmead
Click the title link above to learn more about historic Belmead! The site is not open to the public so the Belmead Trail run is your chance to visit this beautiful location!
Description
Belmead on the James is over 2,000 acres of PRIVATE, historical land, adjacent to the James River. GoFar Racing has received special permission to use this site so don't miss your opportunity to experience this beautiful course!
The course follows single track and wide double track winding through Belmead's forests and fields. The majority of the trail surface is packed dirt but runners can also expect to encounter crushed gravel and short sections of asphalt (less than a 1/4 mile in total). The trails are typically traveled by horses so there will be (especially in wet areas) deep hoof prints which should be traversed carefully. Runners will encounter quite a few technical sections (roots, switchbacks, uneven terrain, mud, stream crossings, loose stones. etc...) but there are some non-technical sections for runners to enable you to stretch your legs.
A note to the 20k runners...There will be two loops to complete the course. 20k runners will follow the 10k route for the first loop and head back out for the second loop. Although the second loop does share some of the 10k route, runners will be able to see a lot more of the property and won't feel as if they ran the same loop twice.
*UPDATE: Our race is full, but we've opened the option for runners/walkers to participate in the 10k with a $25 donation to the Richmond Mounted Police. Please note that no t-shirts or finisher medals will be awarded to these participants.
The course time limit is 5 hours for both races - 3pm is the cutoff time.
Runners can expect a challenging and unique run and we would love to have you!
Proceeds to benefit the Richmond Mounted Police.
Awards
1. Finisher medals for all participants
2. 10k: Top male and female
3. 20k: Top male and female
