Description
The Grand Prix is Richmond Road Runners Club's free-running competition for RRRC members that encourages and rewards speed, participation, and volunteerism. The Grand Prix is a great way to keep your motivation up throughout the year and rewards you at the end for completing the challenge.
This program rewards you for activities you are already doing -- running and volunteering. Generally, to become a Grand Prix Finalist, you must run in 5 club races, volunteer at one club race, and one contract race. The number of races required varies for our Grand Master runners.
Updated rules for 2025 rules are here.
You must be an RRRC member to compete in the Grand Prix.
The 2024 Grand Prix year is January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, but you must Sign Up to be a Grand Prix competitor by February 11, 2025, to earn points to become a 2025 Grand Prix Finalist.
Grand Prix 2025
In 2025, we plan to host all of our club races in person. Still, each race will have a virtual option if local or state directives require limits on participation or if weather causes holding the race to be unsafe. For example, if a 2025 Grand Prix club race cannot be held in person, RRRC will host a virtual race.
Participation in a virtual club race will earn 1 GP point for finishing the race, but no placement points will be awarded because the times are self-reported. Therefore, you must self-report your race completion time within the time allotted by the race, or you will not get the point.
We will have contract events in 2025 to allow volunteers to meet the contract race volunteer requirement for GP Finalist.
