The second annual 5K on the ROA Runway at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport took place on October 14, 2023.
Hosted by the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission, the 5K on the ROA Runway raised funds for Carilion Clinic Cancer Center in memory of Julie Jeavons. Julie was the wife of David Jeavons, ROA’s Director of Finance and Administration, who lost her fight with cancer in 2021.
$45 if registering between August 17 - September 15 (registering by September 15 guarantees a race shirt)
$45 if registering between September 16 - October 12 (no shirt guarantee)
There is no same-day, on-site registration.
Race day activities begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 14. Opening remarks, check presentation, and safety briefing will begin at 8:30 a.m. The race will begin at approximately 9 a.m.
Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. Entry fees cannot be applied to future races or events and/or transferred to another person.
The event will take place rain or shine.
No alcohol, bikes, or inline skates. No pets of any kind.
Strollers are allowed.
Spectators will be able to enter the secure area to cheer on their family and friends in a designated area.
Award categories: Awards will be given to the overall first, second, and third place male and female finishers, as well as the top male and female finishers from each age group (14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70+).
Race day parking is located in the lot at 1410 Coulter Drive. NW, Roanoke, VA 24012. Follow the large signs down Aviation Drive. You will see the air traffic control tower on your left and volunteers helping guide participants into the lot.
