Description
The Giant Acorn Triathlon Festival features Olympic and Sprint distance races staged out of beautiful Lake Anna State Park. With a sandy beach time trial start, a refreshing (low 70’s) freshwater swim, rolling country roads for the bike and a run course that stays completely within the State Park. The race is amazing for so many reasons, but the best part is the park itself with a beautiful venue and banked stadium style seating overlooking the swim course, run course and finish line! Bring the family as the park features miles of trails, a playground, swimming beach and visitors center featuring a “gold mine”. Outside the park you can relax post race at the Lake Anna Winery or the Coyote Hole Cider Works. Be sure to race with friends and make some new ones at the Giant Acorn Triathlon Festival.

USA Triathlon (USAT) Virginia State Championships
***The Giant Acorn Sprint & Olympic Triathlons are the USA Triathlon Virginia State Championships.
Qualifying for the Toyota Age Group National Championships. State championships will qualify the top 35% or top five (5) finishers in an age group (whichever is greater). You may only qualify for Olympic-distance Nationals by placing in the Olympic distance State Championship race or Sprint Nationals by placing in the sprint distance State Championship race.
High School State Championships Exemption: All high school athletes who finish any of the State High School Championships will automatically qualify for Sprint-distance (pending they are at least age 15 as of December 31, 2026.)
Athletes do not have to be a resident of a state to win that state’s championship. Any age group athlete competing in an age group division is eligible to win any state championship.
USA Triathlon (USAT) Sanctioned Event

Race more get cool gear! 2026 SWAG
Any athlete who participates in a minimum of five (5) 2026 Kinetic Multisports events will qualify for Kinetic Cup Series scoring and qualifier rewards.
The tiered qualifier system will work as follows:
Stage 1 Qualifier: Q3 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 3 Kinetic Multisports events will receive a Kinetic Series Sports Waist Bag at Packet Pick Up!
Stage 2 Qualifier: Q5 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 5 Kinetic Multisports events will eligible for Kinetic Series awards and will receive a Kinetic Medal Holder!
Stage 3 Qualifier: Q10 Any athlete who participates in a minimum of 10 Kinetic Multisports events will receive a custom Kinetic Multisports Qualifier Jacket! (Your custom jacket will be mailed to you after the season). This jacket is different each year.
Race For the Kinetic Cup Series Awards – Each athlete placing in the top 5 of each age group or category (with 5 races) will receive a special award. Awards differ from year to year!
Swim Start
Time Trial Swim Start: Kinetic Multisports races utilize a time trial swim start. We'll start two (2) athletes at a time every few seconds. Athletes line up based on swim and overall finish times, faster up front, slower in the back to create a smoother race for everyone.
Elite Box Start: In conjunction with our time trial swim starts we are excited to announce the official addition of the Elite Box Start at select races. If you are in contention to get Top 20 Overall Male/Female or just want to race up front, this is for you. Simply work your way to the front of the swim start area on race day. We'll get you lined up and started first, then athletes two at time every few seconds thereafter. The Elite Box Start concept worked well at many races last year and we are excited to add this feature to more races.
