What You’ll Do:
• Organize Race Packets
• Distribute Race Packets to participants
• Exchange t-shirts
• Requires 3-4 hours of standing

Why it’s important:
• Packets contain everything the participant needs for race day, plus some extras
• With so many racers, we need an organized way to get the materials out
• We couldn’t make it happen without volunteers!

Why You’ll Love it:
• Fast paced, exciting work
• You get to be a huge part of the race
• You can help out here and not miss your chance to participate in a Crim event!

Food/Beverage Distribution

Details

What You’ll Do:
• Distribute beer and pizza
• Check IDs to ensure legal drinking age
• Help manage lines/crowd control

Why it’s Important:
• Everyone loves to get their beer and pizza after the race
• This position helps keep people in an orderly fashion
• People don’t want to wait in a huge line for their pizza and beer; efficiency is key

Why You’ll Love it:
• You are right in the center of the action in the festival lot
• You will get to work with your friends if you’d like, or make new friends
• You’ll get to see all of the different people who participate in the race

Expo Help

Details

What You’ll Do:
• Assist vendors with issues
• Assist visitors/participants in finding specific vendors and answer their questions
• Help keep the expo area clean

Why it’s Important:
• The expo is the kickoff for race weekend!
• There are large volumes of people going through
• everyone should have a positive experience!

Why You’ll Love it:
• You get to experience the excitement first hand
• You get to meet and talk to vendors
• It’s a great activity to do with friends!

Expo Set Up

What You’ll Do:
• Vendor Check In
• Help vendors find their place
• Help vendors set up their area
• Report to Expo Coordinator

Why it’s important:
• The Expo is the kickoff to the Crim
• Vendors need to have clear instructions
• Some vendors have a lot of materials to set up and need help

Why You’ll Love it:
• You get to see how everything is put together before things start
• You get to be a huge part of the race
• You can volunteer and not miss your chance to participate in a Crim event

Expo Tear Down

What You’ll Do:
• Help Vendors take down their booth
• Help vendors take materials out to their car
• Take down signage and materials
• Report to Expo Coordinator

Why it’s important:
• The Expo is a huge part of the Crim and has many pieces
• We want to leave the expo center as clean as we found it
• Some vendors have a lot of materials to take down and need help

Why You’ll Love it:
• You can see all of the excitement post-race day
• You can volunteer for this with friends
• You can volunteer and not miss your chance to participate in a Crim event

Festival Lot Clean Up

What You’ll Do:
• Pick up trash and recycling around the flat lot
• Fold tables and chairs
• Take down signage and materials


Why it’s important:
• The Festival is a huge part of the Crim and has many pieces
• We want to leave the Festival Lot as clean as we found it
• With 60,000 people going through the Festival Lot on Crim Day, we want to make sure it’s put back together once we’re done with it

• You can see all of the excitement of race day
• You can volunteer for this with friends, or make new friends
• You can volunteer and not miss your chance to participate in a Crim event

Details

What you’ll do- Volunteers will check runners in, give out t-shirts, race bibs, and goodie bags.

Why it’s important- It is very important to have a smooth check-in process to keep lines short and get children to the race in time.

Why you’ll love it- You will get to hear how excited the children are to race and make sure they have everything they need for their race!

Teddy Bear Trot - Bounce House Monitor

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

What You’ll Do:
• Monitor the safety inside the bounce house
• Keep track of the number of children in the bounce house
• Rotate children through after the designated amount of time

Why it’s important:
• You make sure the kids are safe
• You make sure kids are taking turns
• The bounce house is a highlight of the event for some kids

Why You’ll Love it:
• You don’t have to get downtown super early
• It’s a quick 3 hour shift, so there’s still a whole day ahead of you
• It’s a bounce house so it’s guaranteed to be fun

Teddy Bear Trot - Children's Activities

What you’ll do- Volunteers will monitor and/or lead activities and games on the lawn in front of City Hall at the Start Line.

Why it’s important- Volunteers will assist in keeping children engaged and occupied while waiting for their race.

Why you’ll love it- You can’t beat getting to interact with children and play games with them!

Teddy Bear Trot Finish Line

Details

What you’ll do- Volunteers will assist in moving the children through the Finish Line corral and reuniting runners with their parents.

Why it’s important- This position will keep the finish line clear and safe for other runners as well as preventing children from getting lost by getting children to their parents.

Why you’ll love it- You will see all the smiling faces crossing the Finish Line!

Teddy Bear Trot Start Line

What you’ll do- Volunteers will assist in separating heats of runners at the Start Line.

Why it’s important- This position is important to keep the event organized and running smoothly. It keeps participants safe by preventing too many children from starting at once.

Why you’ll love it- Volunteers can interact with children at the Start Line and feel their excitement for their race!

• Organize gear in a clear and concise way
• Return gear to participants after the race

Why it’s important:
• This is the only secure place for participants to keep their gear while they run
• It’s a great courtesy we provide for the 15,000 participants
• Organization is a priority for people to get the right stuff back in a timely manner

Why You’ll Love it:
• It’s a quick burst of really busy, followed by a lull, then really busy and fast paced
• You get to see all sorts of people before the race
• People really appreciate it when they can trust someone to watch their stuff
