You will be assigned to a spot along the Course. You might be directing a participant to turn or stay straight.... or you will be in a spot that will just assist with the safety of the participant and the course. Once you check in, you will meet with a course captain to receive your location.
A trail walker for each race will let you know when you are done.

Parking High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Number Pick-up (Choose this task if you are NOT running the race)

This category is for those wanting to help with Number pick-up and who are also NOT running the race.

Volunteers will look up participant names on a list and determine their "Bib#" and give the participant their bib#. Make sure they check their personal information for any errors. Please report any edits to the Captain of Registration.

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

This category is for those wanting to help with Number pick-up and who are also running the race.

Day of Race Registration-Using Electronic Devices

**Must have prior Day of Race Registration Experience using our electronic devices (laptops/tablets). You will assist individuals with registering for the event utilizing day of race online registration.

Day of Race Registration-Paper Application Processing

You will process registration for individuals using paper applications. **Experience preferred

Shirts/Giveaways

Details

You will be responsible for handing out shirts or other giveaways to participants. You will need to place an "x", with a sharpie marker, on the back of their bib # to indicated that they have gotten a shirt.

Lead Bike

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will lead the runners along the course or ride among the participants to help maintain safety.**Lead Bike experience needed.
A trail walker will walk behind the last participant in each race

Split Caller

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

You will be responsible for starting the clock and calling out times as participants pass by. A trail walker for each race will let you know when you are done. If we are short in volunteer course guides, this task may be switched to that task.

Split Caller/Clock- Mile 2

Water Station- Along the Course

You must be 13 or older to volunteer for this task.

Minimum met, 2 volunteer spots remaining.

Details

You will volunteer at a Course Water Station. You will be responsible for pouring water into cups, handing out the water to participants, replenishing empty cups as needed and cleaning up the area once finished. You will be provided with a table, water, cups, latex gloves, garbage bags and receptacles.

Finish Line- Select Timing

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

*Prior Experience Preferred
You will receive direction from the race timer on race morning as to how to record each participants bib# and time as they come through the finish line. Select Timing is used to maintain the integrity of the race results.

A trail walker will walk behind the last participant in each race.

Refreshments

Details

You will assist with setting up our refreshment area once the race begins. and helping to monitor its distribution as the participants come through the area. Refreshments may include: bagels, fruit, soda, etc. We also hope that you will assist with clean-up.

Trail Walker for 1.5 Mile Walk

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will follow the last runner out on the course and follow them until they finish. You will also inform all of the volunteers that you are following the last participant and that they free to go once you have passed by them for the last time.

Bagel Pick-up Medium Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteer will pick-up pre-paid bagel order at either the Bagel Hut in Great Neck or Bagelicious in East Meadow between 6:30-7AM on race morning and bring over to Great Neck South HS before race starts

Ice pick-up Medium Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Volunteer will pick-up (4) 25 lb bags of ice and bring to Great Neck South HS

Set-up Medium Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Set-up volunteers will help unload boxes for the post-race refreshments and awards. Some moderate lifting is required.

Clean-up Crew Medium Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Clean-up Crew volunteers will help break down the race and help logistics load the truck. Some moderate lifting is required.
