Race Course Set Up

You must be 15 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Race Course Set-up - Starting at 2pm and continuing all day Friday, June 29th at the race location,
Physical labor needed to set up the courses (5k and children's run). Come prepared to get dirty and have FUN!

Location

Tom McCall Upper Elementary School bus turn around between East and West buildings.

Parking Volunteers High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Parking Volunteers - Start at 6am to direct participants and vendors to the Community Fair Information booth location. The will also help provide general information to runners and spectators, location of bathrooms, food, water, medical, etc. ** Remember you will be done in time to participate in the run as well!

Event Set-Up

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Equipment & Vendor Set-Up 6:30am - 8:00am: Rise and shine!
We need help setting up tables, refreshments, balloons and helping our vendors get situated. This may require some heavy lifting, but we promise you'll be working as a team. We try to provide coffee and a breakfast treat for coming so early!

Water Stations

You must be 12 or older to volunteer for this task.

Water Station Volunteers - (on course by 8:45am) Arrive by 8:30am AT TURN AROUND
You'll do more than just hand out water, you are:
Part Safety Officer: Our first priority is to provide a safe course for our runners.  Please
keep the course free of debris and communicate any medical/safety issues to the Communications Team member.  Water Stations can begin to clean up
when the last runner has come through.
Part Cheerleader: Cheer the runners on!  Get up, get excited, and keep them moving. As runners pass by, shout that you are holding water and hand to runners as they pass. Also pick up water bottles that runners have discarded on course to maintain safe and clear course for runners.

Course Monitors High Priority

You must be 12 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 20 more volunteers needed.

Course Monitors - On Course at by 8:45am. Arrive by 8:30am - no later please. Our first priority is to provide a safe course for our runners.  Course Monitors are positioned throughout the course at all course driveways and are responsible for directing runners. They are also in charge of keeping cars, bikes and other non-racers, off the course and maintaining a safe environment for runners. Don't for get to cheer the runners on!  Get up, get excited, and keep them moving.  

Finish Line Volunteers

You must be 8 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

Finish Line Volunteers - Be at the finish line at 9:30am - Food and water at the Finish is for runners and volunteers only.  Provide food and water to runners and keep the finish line area organized, free of debris and clutter. Help runners move off course to the Community Fair area to prevent bottleneck for new runners crossing the line. Make sure that every participant and volunteer receives their commemorative Love Rock package.
  

Children's Course Monitors

You must be 8 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 8 more volunteers needed.

Details

Children's Course Monitors - On course by 8:30am to cover the entire children's 1k course. Help guide children through the obstacle course safely. Being a supportive cheerleader is crucial for this position. Making sure that every child has a safe and fun experience is our main goal.

Starting Line Volunteer

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Starting Line Volunteer - at start line at 8:30am to assist in bib attaching, directing walkers and runners with strollers. Helping to get all runners/walkers at starting line and observers to the sidelines. Serious runners will be at front of the pack while strollers are in the back.

For the safety of our participants its essential that our Starting Line Volunteers help get everyone in their correct position. Please be ready to motivate and cheer on the participants. A loud but friendly personalities are needed!

Packet Pickup Friday

You must be 10 or older to volunteer for this task.

Packet Pickup Friday -2 time slots available 9am-1:30am and 4:30-8:30pm.

Set up for Packet Pickup. Assist participants with packet pickup, registration, goody bags and t-shirts. Various jobs to do and is fun to do with friends!

Location is at 1728 Main Street, Forest Grove, OR 97116 at the Forest Grove School District Main Building - Grove Room

Booth Volunteers

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 7 more volunteers needed.

Details

Booth Volunteers - Start at 7am. Various positions, randomly assigned: Information booth, Registration, Packet Pick-up, Volunteers and T-shirts.
The information booth will be done in shifts as it will be open during the entire event, until 12pm. This position requires a friendly personality!

Goody Bag Assembly

You must be 6 or older to volunteer for this task.

Goody Bag Assembly - Usually at packet pickup on Friday, June 29th.

Help stuff donated items and flyers into participant goody bags. Great activity for group organizations such as Church group, book club, Girl or Boy Scouts, etc.

Race Clean Up High Priority

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

Race and Community Fair Clean up - Starting 12:00pm. Help with breaking down the event, clean up all areas, move trash and recycling. Make sure the area was how we found it. Great for group organizations such as Church group, book club, Girl or Boy Scouts, etc.

When it is all said and done, and we have to say good-bye to our great event until next year, we need volunteers to help tear down the start/finish line area. Duties include taking down signs, moving stalls, cleaning trash from the surrounding area. Standing, bending, lifting 25-50 lbs, getting dirty are all required.
