Location: Soo Line Pavilion

Time: 7am-7:50am

Parking: Parking is available next to the Stower Trailhead, at the Soo Line Pavilion across the street, or on side streets within a short walking distance of the start.

Bib Pickup & T-Shirts: Please arrive early to allow ample time to park, pick up your bib, and get to the start line. The 5k will start promptly at 8am. You will receive the t-shirt size you indicated on your registration. If you registered late and did not receive a t-shirt with your registration, you *might* be able to snag one after the race (if we have extra shirts available).

The Course

The Amery Turkey Trot is an out-and-back 5k (3.1 miles) on the Stower Seven Lakes State trail, a flat gravel trail.

Course Safety: This is NOT a closed course. The trail has two crossroads and all participants are responsible for their own safety when crossing these roads. We will have volunteers at these locations, but they are there to warn runners of traffic (they will not stop traffic for you). A PR in your race distance is exciting, but your safety should come first! If you see a car, please assume they do NOT see you and allow them the right-of-way.

Trail Etiquette: With the out-and-back nature of the course and an abundance of runners, we ask you to be respectful of space on the trail – stay to the right, run/walk no more than 2 people across, move over for those running faster than you, and pass others with grace. Also, please be aware that we will do our best to keep the trail clean and clear, but it is still a trail – keep a lookout for gopher holes, rocks, branches, etc.

*This is not a closed course. We will have volunteers at major road crossings, but not all. Please be mindful of traffic - your safety is the number one priority!

*The trail is open to the public during this time. Please be mindful of other users.

*No dogs permitted.

Turnaround Point: The turnaround point is clearly marked with a cone and volunteer. Be sure to run all the way to the turnaround point and around the cone or you’ll cut the course short and your race distance will not be accurate.

Timing and Results

Start Line & Timing: There will be signs posted at the start line indicating estimated efforts (competitive runners, runners, run/walkers, and walkers). We ask that you sort yourself appropriately based on your abilities in order to help minimize congestion at the start. This is a chip-timed event, so your official time doesn’t start until you cross the start line and ends when you come back through the finish line. Official timing is provided by Duluth Timing & Events.

Awards

First place prizes will be awarded to the top Male and Female finishers. There will not be an award ceremony – you can pick up your first-place award at the finish line tent.
