Celebrate 13 Years of the Wisconsin Trail Assail Series!
This year marks the 13th anniversary of the Wisconsin Trail Assail Series, and we’re thrilled to invite you to Lapham Peak for this fun, family-friendly run/walk event.
Let’s be honest—at least once in life, everyone dreams of running from the tax man! Why not do it figuratively at Run From the Tax Man? 🏃♂️💨
About the Course:
Lapham Peak offers one of the most challenging courses in the Wisconsin Trail Assail Series. It’s not as tough as writing that check on April 15th—but it’s close! 😉 This hilly and technical course features:
- Logs across the path
- Rocky and sandy areas
- Dirt trails, tree roots, and washouts
- Plenty of hills to conquer
Despite the challenges, it’s a spectacular course that we’re sure you’ll love! And don’t worry—it’s still accessible for new trail runners and walkers.
Come out, enjoy the adventure, and join us in celebrating 13 years of incredible trail running! 🌲👟
T-Shirts
Race shirts are gender-specific, dry-wick, and guaranteed for those registered by noon on March 29. After that, shirts will be available only while online supplies last. Don’t miss your chance to grab a custom race shirt—register early! 🎽👟

Run/Walk Courses
Course Maps:
Please note: Course distances are approximate due to the nature of trail running. And as much as we’d love to, the friendly park staff won’t let us cut down trees to create new paths! 🌲
The course is well-marked with:
- 12"x12" turn arrows
- 3' tall course signs
- Orange SCSE cones
We do not use traditional trail tape or markings.
Walkers Welcome!
Walkers are welcome to join any distance. Just select your desired distance when registering and check the course closure time to ensure you can finish before the course closes.
Although the Walk Division is timed, it’s not competitive, and there are no age group awards. However, walkers will still receive a finisher woodle! 🎉
Enjoy the trail and have a great race! 🏃♀️🚶♂️

This is a Cupless Race!
The Wisconsin Trail Assail Series is now a cupless series! 🌱
Why?
The idea of tossing 100,000+ cups into landfills each year doesn’t align with the values of most runners—or ours! After 2+ years of planning (delayed by COVID), we’re excited to make this sustainable shift.
What Does This Mean?
- Aid stations are NOT going away. There will still be water and sports drinks available at events—but no cups!
- You’ll need to bring a reusable cup or hydration system.
Additional Bag Drop Options:
We’re also expanding the areas for bag drops so you can leave your nutrition/hydration bag on the course for easy access.
Thank you for joining us in making a positive impact on the environment while enjoying the trails! 🌲💧
