Description

Mustang Discovery Trail 5000 Mile Challenge is a virtual event hosted by Endurance Horse Podcast & WARHORSE Endurance running in conjunction with and as a compliment to the journey of the Mustang Discovery Ride

It is the goal of the Mustang Discovery Trail 5000 Mile Challenge to not only raise awareness of Mustang Discovery Trail  and the American Discovery Trail, though also to do so in a way that is unique to WARHORSE Endurance & that is to include you along for this journey as you log the miles on your own horse or on your own leg power. You can also find out more about joining the journey on trail by meeting up with them along the way for a donation of any amount.

As a bonus thank you- The first 250 participants to register will have their names engraved on two plaques.  One to be on display at the Mustang Heritage Foundation Headquarters and one to be on display at  the American Discovery Trail headquarters.  The first 250 participants to sign up will also have their names in the end credits of the documentary being created by Mustang Discovery.

Mustang Discovery Trail 5000 Mile Challenge is also fundraiser for Mustang Discovery.

Your Challenge at Your Pace
You decide, ride as little as one mile at a time or divided the mileage into three days per week or a few short rides during the week followed by a few extra miles of adventure on the weekend.  The idea is motivation and momentum in a goal for you and your horse to achieve your milestone of 5000 miles. *There is no time limit to reaching this goal* take as long as you need. You set your pace, the days, the miles and if you aim for 25 per week you will be finding yourself at 100 miles by the end of the month!  Or you can add up the miles over several weeks!  You decide what is right for you and your horse to create those 5000 miles of memories with together.

Here is a list of frequently asked questions:

CAN I TRACK RESULTS ONLINE?
You can track your mileage on this website under the "RESULTS" tab of your challenge.
Use of online tracking under the results tab is optional.  Some participants track their miles in a notebook, on a calendar or in a tracking app.

ARE THERE PLACINGS?
Although this is categorized on this sign up page as a virtual race, the only winners are you & your horse spending time together gaining experience, fitness, friendship and miles.  This is a challenge, not a race.

WHAT DO I RECEIVE FOR COMPLETION?
You will receive a beautiful, custom made for this event medal, embroidered patch and a pin to commemorate your miles, your support for the trail and the Mustang Discovery Foundation.  You will receive the awards before you reach the 5000 miles you have achieved with your horse or run/walking on your own, though it maybe a few months after sign up.  The first 250 people to sign up will also have their names engraved on two plaques, one that will be sent to the Mustang Heritage Foundation headquarters and one that will be sent to the American Discovery Trail headquarters.  The first 250 to sign up in support of the Mustang Discovery Trail 5000 Mile Challenge will also have their names added as a thank you in the credits for the documentary that is being done on this journey.

WHAT MILES COUNT?
We are happy to say that this motivational challenge is open to riders, carriage drivers, those walking with their horses!  And it is also open to hikers, runners and cyclists! We even have had someone roller blading the miles.

CAN I USE MORE THAN ONE HORSE?
The answer is YES!  Though you only get the one medal and one patch per sign up!  We are creating this Challenge to encourage each other and set goals in measurable mile increments.

CAN I COMBINE MY PERSONAL RUNNING MILES WITH RIDING MILES TO REACH 5000 MILE GOAL FASTER?
What do you want the medal to signify to you? If you would like the medal to symbolize all of your miles with one horse, then you count just the miles with one horse.  Would you like it to symbolize how many active miles you had then you can absolutely count run/walk/ride miles all together.

DOES ARENA RIDING COUNT?
Yes, if you are riding in a standard to large arena.

WHAT IF I AM NOT IN THE USA?  CAN I STILL I AND GET THE MEDAL?
The cost of this challenge includes shipping of the medal to USA only.  If you are outside of the USA you will be mailed the embroiled patch only.  Though you can request to have the medal shipped outside of the USA at your cost.
For international participants we mail an embroidered patch of the same size and design of the medal.  Thank you for understanding that if I paid for the international shipping it would cost me far more than what the sign up fee is and I cannot do that.  Due to some unpaid international shipping, shipping of outside of USA requestedmedals will not be shipped unless the invoice for shipping is paid ahead quickly.
