Information

Choose Your Distance
Take on a 5-pointer, 10-pointer, or 13.1-pointer! Every finisher earns a "bucking" great woodle. Yes, you're in for plenty of deer puns—it’s the perfect lead-up to Wisconsin’s deer hunting season!

What’s with the Name?
The race takes place during deer season, and we wanted a fitting theme. After a naming contest, "Bucks & Does Fifty Pointer" was crowned the winner. Now you know the story! Keep an eye out—you might spot a few deer along the course or see them cleverly hiding in the woods.

Course

The trails are well-groomed and primarily wood-chipped, with a portion on grass that is well-maintained. Over 60% of the course is shaded by trees, making it a pleasant running environment.

Course Notes:
Distances are approximate due to the nature of trail running. While we appreciate the park's cooperation, they’ve kindly asked us not to cut down trees to create new paths. If you’ve run with us at Nashotah in the past, this course is the reverse (counterclockwise). Easier? That’s for you to decide!

Distances:

  • 5K: 1 lap inside – 3.21 miles
  • 10K: 2 laps inside – 6.42 miles
  • Half Marathon: 2 laps outside + 1 lap inside – 13.03 miles
    (Outside laps are run first.)

Course Markings:
The course is clearly marked with 12x12" turn arrows, 3' tall course signs, and cones. Traditional ultra trail tape is not used. The course is easy to follow, so there’s no need to memorize the route.

Early Start Option for Half Marathoners
If you're concerned about finishing the half marathon within the allotted time, we're here to help you achieve your running goals! We offer an early start option for half marathoners who need extra time.

  • Important Details:
    • Early starters will receive a chip time.
    • Early starters are not eligible for age group or series awards.
    • The course may not yet be fully set up:
      • Markings, marshals, police, and aid stations may not be in place.
      • The course will remain open to the public.
    • Early starts are available only for half marathon participants.

Important Rules:
🚫 Non-Half Marathon Participants: Those starting early in other races will not receive an official time and will be disqualified.

🚫 Continuing After Closure: Participants who continue after being asked to stop will also be disqualified.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
