The Tap Yard - Minooka Park

Waukesha, WI US 53189

A little running (or walking) along awesome trails at Minooka Park, a little beer, and a whole lot of fun!

This registration is for The Tap Yard Beer Garden 5K in Waukesha on Thursday, July 20 only. If you would like to register for the entire Beer Garden 5K Series, please go to the series registration site: Beer Garden 5K Series

The only trail course in the series. You are going to love Minooka Park. The trails are wide and groomed all year. It even has a short hill nicknamed Killer Hill! The best park of it is you get to do a lap around Killer Hill twice. No extra charge for the added fun.

The walk division is a timed event. It is not a competitive event and there are no awards for the walk division. Walkers will receive a finisher woodle!

Course map

We know the course map shows it being short. The extra free lap around Killer Hill will get it close to 3.12.

5:30 pm: Packet Pickup Opens
6:15 pm: Kiddo's 1K
6:30 pm: 5K Race/Walk Starts
7:00 pm Trivia at The Tap Yard

We have returned to mass starts! If you'd prefer to continue social distancing, you are welcome to distance from those toeing the line and may start your race when you are comfortable. The start line will remain open for about 10 minutes.

All participants who register for the race by Thursday, July 6 will be guaranteed a race t-shirt. After that, t-shirt sizes and quantities will be limited. Have too many race shirts? No problem, you can opt out of a t-shirt at registration and save $5!

We know how much you love a freezer pop at the finish, so we are bringing them back! All finishers will receive a freezer pop!

Finisher Woodles

All participants will receive a custom finisher Woodle made by our friends at Ridgeway Woodworks. The Woodles are made in America from 100% reclaimed wood.

Overall Awards

The overall male and female finisher at each race will receive a custom award from Ridgeway Woodworks.

Age Group Awards

Top 3 male and female finishers in each age group will receive a custom award medal. Age groups are 0-14, then 5-year increments.

Parking is available at the park in picnic area 1, 2 or 3. Please do NOT park in the beach parking area or your car will be towed and turned into beer cans!

There is a $6.00 county park day pass or an annual pass required. Both the annual pass and daily pass must be purchased online BEFORE the event.  There is NO in person payment available.

There will be a Kids 1K run (under 12) where all kids will get a bib just like Mom & Dad. The race is FREE for the kiddos if Mom or Dad is registered and you can register them online at no charge. Sorry, no shirts for the kids, but they do get a finisher medal!

The Average Joe & Jane Awards are back for the Beer Garden Series, and are presented to the male and female runner who finished in the exact middle of all runners. Winners will receive a t-shirt and custom woodle!

“What’s up with the Squatch?” Good question! If you aren’t familiar, Squatch is the unofficial Silver Circle mascot and he’s a bit of a legend around Oconomowoc, which just so happens to be Silver Circle Global HQ.

We’ve decided to play a game with Squatch at the 2024 Beer Garden 5K Series!

We’ll be hiding 2 small wooden sasquatches from Ridgeway Woodworks (much like the ones pictured below) along the race course – they will NOT be out in the open – it’s Squatch, after all. IF you manage to spot one while you’re out on the course and decide to sacrifice your potential PR to return Squatch to the finish line with you, you will be rewarded with a BONUS beer. That’s right – TWO free beers! So, are you here for the win and the glory, or are you here for the beer… and, of course, the glory?

Oh, we almost forgot to mention: you'll get to keep Squatch, too! (#WheresSquatch)

Think you and your friends are the fastest beer runners on the planet? Prove it! The team challenge is back for 2024.

 How it works:

Create a team during registration! Invite your family, friends coworkers, and that super fast 21-year-old that lives down the street. The more, the merrier, and the better your chances!
The team with the 4 fastest runners gets an extra beer and an awesome trophy! The more runners you have, the better your chances.

We will be using age grading for the team challenge. Don't worry about the math. Our timing software will calculate it. If you really want to know everthing there ever was about age grading, here is an article by timing legend Alan Jones.
