Description
Charlie's Challenge Trail Run is a 5k/25k/50k Trail Run on the beautiful trails at Charles Fork Lake in Spencer, WV. Located approximately one hour from Charleston or Parkersburg at the junction of US 33 and US 119, Spencer is the outdoor recreation hub of central West Virginia. Check out SpencerTrails.com for trail maps and more information about activities in Spencer. The 5k run/walk features trails not included in the 25k and 50k portion. The City of Spencer trail systems are among the best marked trail systems in the state, with signs at every trail junction and "You Are Here" signs throughout both our Charles Fork Lake and Ben's Run Trail sytems. The race course will be expertly marked and start/finish line will be on the earthen dam of the 72 acre impoundment. Camping is available for free to race participants (electric hookups on first come, first serve basis; primitive camping overflow in meadows around the lake). The 50k race course will be two laps of the 25k course.
Registration is $30 for all three races. T-shirts, SWAG, water and food available to all racers. Prizes and awards to top finishers.
(Race Flow is as follows: Fire Road Trail, Point Pass, Lakeview Trail, Chadway Trail, Trevor's Trail, Charlie's Challenge = 15.7 mile lap of almost entirely singletrack trail [Fire Road is 3 miles of double track for bicycling and foot traffic only])
