Beartooth Run Cancelled

Dear Friends,

After much deliberation, Red Lodge Events has come to the tough decision to cancel the 52nd Annual Beartooth Run. This decision was not made lightly. After speaking with our local health officials and insurance company, it is clear we cannot safely put on a race for 300 people.

This pandemic has hit the event world hard. When I bought Red Lodge Events in December, I could have never imagined having to cancel two of our most popular races. I've been holding out hope that we could safely host the Beartooth Run. Unfortunately, after running Plan B-Z in my head and bouncing ideas off other Race Directors, the Beartooth Run we all know and love just can't happen this year.

You might be thinking, 'It's not even June, things will get better.' And we sincerely hope they do, but we aren't in the prediction business. Non-refundable deposits and fees are due June 1; if we wait to cancel the event, you don't get a refund and that's not right in our book. So while state restrictions may be lifted, we have decided to follow the current guidelines and err on the side of caution.

We know this race is special. This was the first race we volunteered for before becoming the Event Director and now Owner. In the past, we've had runners from more than 20 states and internationally come run the highest 5k/10k road race in the US. Some of you have run all 52 years! Maybe this was going to be your first 5k or you were ready to get a personal best.  We are right there with you in sharing the disappointment. Hosting events is our business; we depend on this income.

Again, this isn't the choice we wanted to make but it is the responsible choice. We look forward to finishing out the 2020 season and a great 2021 race season!
