The Gates of Yellowstone Triathlon offers athletes an extraordinary race experience in the heart of Wyoming, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Buffalo Bill Reservoir and the surrounding Shoshone National Forest. This race, featuring both Sprint and Olympic distances, is the only USAT-certified Olympic distance triathlon in the area, making it a unique and unmissable event for triathletes from across the region.
Whether you're a seasoned competitor or a first-timer, the Gates of Yellowstone Triathlon will challenge you while immersing you in the natural beauty of the American West. The event includes two race distances: Sprint (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) and Olympic (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run), catering to athletes of all levels.
Racers will begin with a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Buffalo Bill Reservoir, known for its stunning mountain views and peaceful setting. From there, the bike course will take you through the rolling hills and open landscapes of Cody, offering athletes both a scenic and challenging ride. The final leg of the race will feature a fast, scenic run with panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness and the majestic peaks of the Shoshone National Forest.
