Help the Spokane Community!

Do you love running and have a passion for helping the Spokane Community?! New for 2022, Windermere Marathon and Events and the Windermere Foundation want you to team up with them and help raise funds for Volunteers of America, 2nd Harvest and Family Promise! Get your family, friends and anyone else you can find to help raise money and awareness for these great causes.

Windermere Foundation

Giving back has always been a big part of who the Windermere Foundation is. In the early days of Windermere, it was pretty simple; see a need and help in any way possible. As the company grew, they established a common purpose in order to do more good in one area. That’s how the Windermere Foundation was born. Housing is their business, so helping homeless families seemed like a natural fit. Later the focus expanded to include low-income families, with an emphasis on helping children. For the past 30 years a portion of every Windermere agent’s commission has been donated to the Windermere Foundation. Having 100% participation gives them a common purpose and sends a powerful message about commitment to the community. Last year alone they provided funding to hundreds of organizations throughout the Western U.S., including homeless shelters, food banks, schools, hospitals, community centers, and more. For the past 30 years, these are the types of needs the Windermere Foundation has helped meet thanks to the collective generosity of our agents and the community.

Family Promise

Family Promise of Spokane envisions a future where no child experiences homelessness. They are making this vision a reality by equipping families and their communities with the tools to end the cycle of homelessness. They specialize in preventing family homelessness through rental assistance and support. They also help provide for families currently experiencing homelessness through shelters and life skills training. Their goal is to not simply get families into house but to also keep them in housing by providing skills for life after homelessness!

2nd Harvest

Second Harvest brings community resources together to feed people in need through empowerment, education, and partnerships. They believe that everyone has the right to health. Nutritious food is the key ingredient in the recipe for a healthy life. They envision a world in which every person-regardless of age, race, ability, income, or status- has access to the food they need to live a life full of the activities and people that they love. For these reasons Second Harvest works their hardest to get food onto the tables of families, kids, and seniors facing hunger in our community.

Volunteers Of America

For 125 years, Volunteers of America Eastern Washington and North Idaho has been working hard to ensure homelessness doesn’t become a life sentence for those most vulnerable. They specialized in providing care for youth and adults with housing first solutions and low barrier access to services. In addition to housing programs, they own and operate Crosswalk Youth Shelter (13-17), Hope House Shelter (18+) and the new Young Adult Shelter (18-24).
