This is your official invitation to come out and enjoy a day of fun and excitement at the 2nd Annual Transylvania County K-9 Challenge!!! Whether you participate or just come out to watch the competition, it will be a great opportunity to enjoy the fall weather and a fun day outdoors in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. All dogs are welcome to participate. We are excited to establish a fun and competitive event to support our local law enforcement. If you prefer to just watch, admission is free. Food and refreshments will be sold on premises, and music will be free for your enjoyment. Prizes and T-shirts will be awarded for the fastest times in each category. For safety concerns, there will be checkpoints along the course, and a veterinarian will be available to care for the dogs.

What is the Transylvania County K-9 Challenge? It is the 2nd annual charity event to raise money for the Transylvania County Sheriff Office K-9 Units. It is a challenge for you and your dog. If you like agility and a challenge, this is your event. We've set up a course in beautiful Transylvania County in Western North Carolina. Any one and any dog can do it, but be forewarned, this is not your ordinary course! It's one with attitude... not for the faint of heart! You and your dog participate as a team. You may run or walk the course, and each obstacle will have a bypass option if you need it.

The K-9 Challenge is an event for all dog trainers, handlers & parents, regardless of breed and discipline in which you might normally participate with your dog. Race length 2.5 - 3.0 miles over a cross country course, Each handler and dog team will travel through water, over fallen trees, face challenges, and conquer obstacles of various kinds.

• Competitors do not have to be members of any organization.

• Entries are open to all breeds, including mixed breed dogs.

• You may run as many dogs as you wish one at a time.

• Minimum age for dogs is 10 months.

• There will be 5 age divisions for men and women: Each named after a Transylvania County K9 who served and passed.
Eli (14 and younger) Ferex (15-35) Dune (36-49) and Bonnie (50-61) and Dory (62 +)

• All activity is ON LEASH.

• Collars allowed: Pinch/prong, choke, flat, fur saver, or harness. No E-Collars.

• Judging will be based time of the dog and handler team. Time penalties will be given for not completing a challenge.

• Anyone displaying abuse to their dog or displaying unsportsmanlike conduct will be disqualified and banned from competing.

• Dogs MUST be on a leash at all times while on the property.

• Use of food treats to motivate your dog while on course is not allowed. You may use a ball or tug with your dog.

• We strongly suggest bringing a change of clothes.

• All dogs must be up to date on their rabies, kennel cough and parvo shots.

Men's and Women's Divisions Offered
Eli (14 years and younger) Ferex (15-35) Dune (36-49) and Bonnie (50 -61+), and Dory (62+)
Special Note: the above divisions are named after Transylvania K9's who have served and passed.


The fastest time in each division will place. 
First and second place trophies will be awarded for each division,
as well as Overall Champion Male and Overall Champion Female.
