Description
Welcome to Oakwood Elementary School's 2nd Annuea 5K & 1K fundraising event. This event mixes exercises with fun which in turn makes us healthier and improves self confidence and attention!
The 5K run starts at noon at Parker's Lake Park near the band stage and then encircles the Playfields. Return back to the park and run along the lake to the West and South before finishing near the stage. This is open for all ages.
The 1K is a loop along the path and starts and finishes at Parker's Lake Park near the band stage. This is open for ages 12 and below. Parents may run with children but need to register (no fee but t-shirt available for purchase). It starts at 1:00 PM.
Parking is available near the playgrounds or across County Road 6 in Plymouth Park Playfields. Take the tunnel to get to the lake side.
Participants are encouraged to raise money for Oakwood Elementary PTA. Funds raised from the race will pay for visiting programs for Assemblies, our Reflections Art Program, and Family Service Night. The participant who raises the most will win 4 tickets to ValleyScare 2015! (Tickets must be used by November 1.) Also, any participant who raises more than $25, will get his/her name entered in a drawing for 4 ValleyScare 2015 tickets. For each $25 raised, his/her name will be entered again. Must have money raised by October 10. Click on "Fundraiser" near the end of registration to become a fundraiser. Invite friends and family to support your miles!
Your race bib, t-shirt, water bottle and Wayzata bag with goodies may be picked up at Oakwood Elementary School on Friday 10/9/14 from 6-7 PM or on race day at Parker's Lake Park 10-11:30 AM.
We are working in collaboration with World Soles to collect used shoes for developing nations, disaster relief, or recycled playground equipment. Because of our partnership, we will receive a contribution for our efforts. Ask your neighbors, friends, and relatives to help support this mission. There will be a collection box at the race and also the main entry of Oakwood until October 9.

5K Route
Start and end near the Pavilion at Parker's Lake Park. The whole route will be run on paths and sidewalks. There will be a few monitored road crossings. After the start, circle the playfields counter-clockwise. Return to the park and follow the path on the west side of the Lake. There will be a cone to turn around. Follow signs and sidewalk chalk. Finish back near the Pavilion.
Please note - 12 years and under who wish to run the 1K may use the same bib and just need to register for the 5K.
