Amanda was one of my very best friends growing up (in fact, she was one of the first friends I ever made!). We did everything together: from going to dance classes, to making silly music videos, to hanging out and gossiping, and everything in between. Before Amanda was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension, we went to summer Girl Scout Camp together for several years, and they are some of my favorite memories I have with her. Every day at camp, I would fix her french braids, and we would be there for each other when we got homesick.
After Amanda was diagnosed, however, going to camp together was no longer an option. This is where North Star Reach comes into the picture. This organization gave Amanda one of her favorite things back -- camp. I was so happy to see her go back to camp, and I know this organization brought her so much joy and independence (I even have the letters she wrote me from camp to prove it!). There isn't a day that goes by where I do not think about Amanda. She was such a passionate, kind, giving, and truly special person. Before she passed, she asked that donations be made to North Star Reach, so I will be (virtually) running a 5k on October 2, 2021 to raise funds! Please consider donating to my fundraiser to help support this incredible non-profit.
Thank you all!
