Every year, Students Run Philly Style teams up with 1,500 young people (ages 12-18) and pairs them with volunteer mentors. They train together, with a goal of completing a 10-mile run, a half marathon, or a full marathon. Since 2004, this program has sparked a movement of healthier youth in Philadelphia. Students also develop higher levels of self confidence and aspire to make a difference in their communities.
The students and mentors of Students Run Philly Style are always at local races—handing out water, cheering loud, bringing great energy, and, of course, running. They’re a vibrant part of the Philadelphia running community and I am proud to support such an impactful organization.
