The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has held the annual Tower Climb NYC at the Observatory at One World Trade Center since 2015. Over 1,000 participants climb flights of stairs totaling 104 stories- symbolizing strength, hope and the resiliency of the American spirit. The event celebrates the life and sacrifice of ALL 9/11 heroes, including FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller and FDNY Captain Billy Burke.
After making the emotional climb to the top of the One World Trade participants explore expansive, panoramic views in every direction from a unique perspective. One of the major highlights, of course, is viewing the two reflecting pools that mark the footprints of where the Twin Towers once stood.
Since joining the Young Professionals Network in July 2021, I have been a part of many T2T events. Last year was my second year participating in the tower climb, and I enjoyed the event so much I am back to participate again! Last year I finished the climb in 31:36. I ended up placing 17th in my age range. They say it takes the average person about 30 min, and my goal is to get under that 30 min mark.
This year the YPN will be climbing in honor of Donald McIntyre, PAPD. If you would like to sign up for our team, please let me know. If you want to be a part of the wonderful programs T2T has throughout the year please consider donating to my fundraising page. The process is quick and secure, and no amount is ever too small to help a Hero and their families.
