IMAGINE... You left your home of 22 years because of extreme poverty, gang violence, and corrupt government officials. You spent the last 3 months not knowing where your next meal would come from, barely sleeping (and when you did, you slept with one eye open), wandering the desert in both freezing and sweltering temperatures. You watched your back for animals, rapists, murderers, corrupt police. You finally reached your destination and turned yourself in to local authorities with the hope that you could make a new start for yourself in a new country. You're tired and scared and don't know where to turn. Many immigrants/asylum seekers/ trafficking survivors find themselves in this same situation and turn to my organization, AWE, for support. And GUESS WHAT? Clients are healing trauma, graduating from high school, learning English, attending college, and forming community amongst each other all thanks to YOUR donations. THANK YOU!!!
