Please consider making a donation and supporting Team Checketts for a cause that is very close to our hearts. My Father-in-Law, Sam but I called him (Dad) Was diagnosed with Sarcoma in 2005. In 2011, he cochaired a committee comprised of oncologists and others with sarcoma who were dedicated to finding a cure and raising awareness of this cancer that takes so many loved ones from us. The Pittsburgh Cure Sarcoma (PCS) 5K walk/run event resulted from that committee's efforts, and the event takes place every year at the North Park Boathouse. Dad, (Sam) participated in the inaugural event in 2011, and he completed the walk with us. He was too weak to complete the walk in 2012, and he sadly lost his battle with Sarcoma in November 2012.
Although he's no longer with us physically, We feel him spiritually every year as we continue to support this even in honor of him and carry on the tradition he started so many years ago that means so much to so many. We feel Dad (Sam) would be incredibly proud and impressed at how far this event has come and what PCS has accomplished. So whether you know someone with sarcoma or has been affected by another type of cancer, or you yourself are battling this terrible disease, you understand the passion behind PCS. Team Checketts ask for your donation so we can support research to find a cure and eliminate this threat forever.
