Description
The Coronavirus Relief Virtual Run/Walk is a fundraising event to benefit the CDC Foundation's Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund.
We are coming together to give hope to the individuals and families impacted by the novel coronavirus and to provide support to the medical institutions on the front lines. With so many charity events, races, and run/walks cancelled, we would like to invite the greater community to join us in helping to provide relief for COVID-19.
On Friday, May 1st we will be heading outside for a 1 hour run or walk to benefit the CDC Foundation's coronavirus emergency response fund. With your participation, we will be directly helping communities prevent, detect and respond to COVID-19. The funding will be used to deploy emergency staffing, to deliver critical food and medical needs to quarantined individuals, and to build capacity and infrastructure for response efforts.
How to participate:
- Register by clicking the Sign Up button above
- On Friday, May 1st, go for a run or walk outside for 60 minutes
- Share your run or walk on social media using the hashtag #CoronavirusReliefRun
Exercise should be completed safely and in accordance with the CDC's guidelines listed below.
While most state's "Stay-at-Home" mandates specifically allow for 1 hour of outdoor exercise per day, it is extremely important that all participants follow the laws of their local authorities. By registering and participating in this event, you agree to follow the laws of your local municipalities and that you fully understand the risks of going outside. The registrant is therefore fully responsible for their health in signing up and participating.
General guidelines for exercising outside during the coronavirus pandemic:
- Choose a local route and go out for no more than 60 minutes
- Go alone, during non-crowded times
- Refrain from spitting or excessive coughing
- DO NOT go outside if you are sick or experiencing any symptoms
Before heading outside, be sure to check your local public health recommendations and the current health mandates in your area, which can be found on your state and local government website.
