Hi CT Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, friends and neighbors
I am running in the IRIS Run for Refugees this Sunday February 9. IRIS is a non-profit that helps supports refugee resettlements across CT. However, due to recent actions by the new US administration to stop refugee resettlements indefinitely, IRIS is no longer receiving the funds it needs to continue to support refugees who have already arrived. As many of you know, The CT Returned Peace Corps Volunteers partnered with Wesleyan employees to support a refugee family of four from Latin America. IRIS supported us to be able to help this family. The family was to fly to the US in January. However, before the family was able to fly to the US, the US government cancelled all refugee travel. While we lost this family, there are still refugees in the US, including here in CT who need help. IRIS provides this help. But it needs help. So we ask you to Please Help IRIS Continue to Help Refugees. Please donate what you can. Your donations will Help IRIS Help Refugees who have arrived recently in Connecticut, but for whom IRIS has no funding to provide essential services - services critical to become self-sufficient in their new homeland. Thank you! Gracias!
The picture above shows a few of the many volunteers from the CT Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and Wesleyan who have worked for months to welcome and resettle our Latin American refugee family. Our focus now is to Help IRIS Help Refugees. Join us!
