Join hundreds of other individuals like you beginning Monday, August 10th, 2020, for a 14-week training program in the Toledo area — geared to whip you into shape for the local road racing scene, culminating at the annual Churchill's Half Marathon on Saturday, November 14th. We will be meeting in-person with the necessary social distancing and safety precautions in place, as approved by the Lucas County Health Commission.

We are also offering an alternative to our in-person training for those who may not feel comfortable running with others at this time or may not be able to meet on the official training days. Dave's Remote Training is our full program, online, offering everything that the in-person program does except for the official in-person group sessions.

The First Timer

If you're looking to complete your first half marathon, Dave's Running Shop will get you from the couch to the finish line with a detailed, 14-week plan geared toward the  November Churchill's Half Marathon. This training plan will gradually build your mileage and assist you in getting used to the longer training runs little-by-little, so you are ready to tackle the half marathon distance by race day.

The Road Racer

You train to race and want a training plan that revolves around some of our top local road races. The coaches at Dave's Running Shop will take the base you have built and prepare you for the upcoming summer and fall road races. Not only will you see your fitness level improve, but this plan will incorporate a target local race each month. 

The Social Runner

You enjoy racing and hitting your PR's (personal records/personal bests), but training with others is what keeps you motivated — the friendships and accountability with training in a group setting are what you truly enjoy. Dave's Running Shop is well-known for facilitating the largest and most welcoming/inviting training group in the area, where you're certain to stay motivated.

The Solo Runner (BRAND NEW • REMOTE)

For the runner who prefers to train on their own, or their schedule does not permit the time to meet on official training days. Dave's Running Shop offers a full, online training platform that is monitored by and provides you with the same quality of coaching that the in-person program receives. You also receive all the perks of our traditional training program, too.

What we're trying to say is, runners of all experience levels benefit from all of our training programs. Let us share in the journey with you, and we'll be there to cheer you as you cross the finish line.

  • 6:30 PM - Walt Churchill Track, Perrysburg

Saturday Morning Long Run

  • 7:30 AM (changing to 8:00 AM based on sunrise)
  • Metroparks (and other local spots)

Pace Groups (goal pace per mile for half-marathon)

*Pace groups are subject to change based on group sizes. The top pace group may change based on the participants in the group. The 12:00 minute pace will be the lowest pace standard before the Low Mileage/Open Pace group. Prior to the start of the training program, you will receive a welcome letter regarding the logistics of the training.
