At the age of 33 I was told I had breast cancer. Like every other person before me who has heard those three words, my whole world went black and was turned upside down. Thankfully what they say is true- it’s the worst club with the best members. People I didn’t know, friends of friends, strangers, reached out to hold my hand and guide me along. A few short weeks after my diagnosis I learned I was pregnant with my second child. I was shocked to find even more support, there were other moms who were going through cancer while pregnant. I couldn’t believe it. I am now almost three years out from my diagnosis. The baby I went through chemo with is two years old, and is such a strong little girl. I am so lucky to be raising my two kids alongside my amazing husband. Now it’s my turn to hold the hands of strangers turned dear friends, in the same way I was supported.
