Through this organization as a board member, I have learned and come to understand that many young people, especially little brown boys and girls, become homeless when they age out of the foster care system. This touched me...because I consider myself a "champion of change" and I instantly knew I could do more. But never could wrap my mind around what that more was, until I met the founder of the organization, who helped me realized that "doing something" could be actualized in numerous ways, i,e, serving on the board, volunteering my time quarterly, donating or simply just showing up and being an example of care for the youth that the organization serves. I took those words as confirmation and chose not to stand on the sidelines, but to get on the playing field to do what I could when I could...because if not me, then who!?
