Up to 1 of every 5 students in classrooms worldwide face the challenge of having dyslexia, a neurobiological disorder affecting the way language is processed in the brain resulting in significant deficits in spelling and reading skills. It isn’t curable, however advances in scientific and educational research are providing parents and educators with knowledge about how to teach ALL students to read and write in ways that students with dyslexia depend on to compensate for their differences. Please consider supporting the International Dyslexia Association Kansas Missouri Branch’s mission to spread dyslexia awareness, support needs of those in our community with dyslexia, and help train educators about evidence based methods for teaching literacy that benefit all students instead of only some.
